A new intimacy coaching app called Senses has launched for iPhone, iPad and Mac, offering mind and body practices “to create a safe and mindful space to explore sexuality,” the company says.
Where Apple has a history of sex-negativity —with plenty of sex-themed apps, like Nood and Le Petit Mort, forbidden on the App Store— Senses has managed to capture a balance of ‘safe for work’ wellness content, with essential elements about intimacy.
While currently at a minimum viable product (MVP) stage, Perminova has big plans for development and growth. The next big content and feature update is scheduled for early 2022, “with an extremely professional diverse team and new approaches to the user experience,” says Perminova.
All content on the app is available on a monthly ($14.99) and annual ($69.99 USD) subscription. There’s also a three-day trial period.
Subscribing gets you more than 25 educational workshops with experienced coaches, guided self-intimacy meditations (similar to Ferly), 100+ movement and kegel strengthening exercises, and an additional 50 physical practices.
The company hopes that the exercises will deepen intimacy knowledge and improve contact with your body, along with creating a better understanding of relationships.
The app is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch (iOS 10.0 or later), or Mac (macOS 11.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip). There’s no Android version currently.
Perhaps most unexpectedly, co-founder of the app, Alena Perminova, says it didn’t face any issues with the App Store review, “everything went according to the standard procedure and was very friendly.”
