Demi Lovato has become the latest celebrity to muscle in on the sex toy market, releasing a vibrator the singer and actor says is “for everyone”.
The Demi Wand is a compact vibrator designed to be travel-friendly, that charges inside its case. The device is being released in collaboration with [NSFW] Bellesa, a porn company marketed towards women.
Lovato, who announced that they were non-binary in May 2021, said they chose yellow as the color for the Demi Wand because it was a gender-neutral tone. “I wanted something that everyone can use, whether they are female assigned at birth or not. You know I’m non-binary and this is my wand,” Lovato said.
The ribbed device is slightly shorter than its 5.5-inch carry case, has eight vibration modes, and has been designed to be “whisper quiet”. It is being sold for $79 at the Bellesa Boutique online store.
The Demi Wand is made from waterproof silicone and has a flexible neck section, with Bellesa saying that the device was designed for external stimulation “for the outside parts”. The company said it was their smallest and quietest wand vibrator.
Lovato joins celebrities such as model and actor Cara Delevigne plus singer and actor Lily Allen by releasing her own sex tech device. Delevingne and Allen’s marketing campaigns for their products focused on empowerment and taboo-busting, and Lovato’s seems to be following a similar path.
Lovato said: “There is nothing more empowering than taking your pleasure into your own hands. We have spent far too long pretending we are not sexual beings – it’s time for us to put this stigma to rest. We are all deserving of pleasure. We are all deserving of orgasms.”
Announcing their non-binary status in May, Lovato, who had previously gone by the pronouns she/her, said: “Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all. I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”
