Rainbows End virtual sextech hackathon taking place April 24 – May 2

Rainbows End Hackathon

A series of sextech device hacking tutorials and events are set to take place as part of Rainbow’s End Art and Technology Expo: an 11-day online festival set to kick off on 22 April.

The online expo, organised by the Creative Coding Utrecht platform, will feature the Rainbow’s End Sex Tech Hackathon. It’s been organised in conjunction with sex tech workshop company Touchy-Feely Tech and the Hervisions curation agency.

As part of the ticketed online hackathon a Sex Tech Workshop will take place on April 24. In the session instructors will explain how to deconstruct electronic stimulation devices and customise them. To take part fully, attendees will need to have a stimulation vice to deconstruct and relevant tools to hand as they watch the event.

That event will be followed on April 30 by Sex Tech Talk Show: a speaker event about the future of sex tech. The speaker line-up is set to be announced soon.

The main Sex Tech Hackathon event will take place on May 1 and 2. Participants will discuss the present and future of sex tech, then take part in a project from idea to prototype stage under the guidance of mentors.

Participants are encouraged to consider sex tech projects based on ideas around fairness and equality, therapeutic potential or body augmentation that breaks convention.

“This Hackathon invites participants to actively and collaboratively question what the future holds for humans and our relationship with technology and sexuality. We want to hold space for important conversations and welcome creative ideas, dreaming and collaboration,” the organizers said.

Tickets for the main two-day hackathon event cost €40 (€20 for students). Tickets cost €20 (€10 for students and main hackathon ticket-holders). Sex Tech Talk Show tickets cost €5 (free for main hackathon ticket-holders).
