A new AI sex coach chatbot has been launched by the sex education online course company Beducated, offering sex tips and advice in the style of ChatGPT’s functionality.
Launched as a startup by couple Mariah Freya and Phil Steinweber in 2018 as a “Netflix for sexual education”, Beducated started by offering access to online sex and sexuality masterclasses for a subscription fee. The firm’s new AI Sex Coach can give detailed advice about sex and relationships, having been trained on thousands of sex education lessons and educational material.
AI Sex Coach is free for unlimited use for Beducated subscribers, with subscriptions costing from $29.99 a month. Non-subscribers can send the chatbot up to ten messages per day for free.
The company promises that the AI chatbot will give “insightful responses that put pleasure first”, and the signs are promising. When SEXTECHGUIDE asked the chatbot for advice on pleasuring breasts, it offered various techniques and methods as well as mentioning the importance of consent and personal preferences.
The chatbot signed off the breast advice with the note: “Remember, the key to ‘nipple-gasms’ is to take your time.” Similar suggestions of “patience” were offered in regard to other types of orgasms, such as “cervical orgasms”.
It also linked various Beducated online courses you can access by paid subscription, perhaps revealing the true purpose of the release of the AI Sex Coach for the company.
When asked about what to do when a partner struggles with erectile dysfunction (ED), it offered some tips such as “open communication” and “be patient and supportive”. This was alongside actionable advice such as “seeking a healthcare provider” or “exploring sexual education material together” including sensual massage techniques that “can promote relaxation and increase blood flow” – while linking to a course specifically designed by a sex therapist who specializes in ED.
A follow-up question on what open communication in the bedroom might look like led to a myriad of suggestions, such as “asking open-ended questions,” “using “I” statements”, and “listening attentively.” Likely similar to what you could find on Google, but tailored in the format of a personalized conversation and within the specific realm of sexual health.
Plus at the end of every message is a question that invites you to think deeper about the topic and your role in the experience, for example, “have you ever had an open conversation about your sexual desires with your partner before?”
Beducated said that its AI Sex Coach used multiple large language models (LLM), including Open AI’s ChatGPT, to process user questions and comments. ChatGPT is programmed to not produce what it considers erotic content, but Beducated chiefs said that because AI Sex Coach used multiple LLMs it has no such restrictions.
The AI Sex Coach, is, however, strictly programmed to not engage in discussions about non-consensual sex, child porn, illegal acts, and rape. The company said their “censorship-free approach empowers the AI Sex Coach to serve as a comprehensive intimacy assistant.”
It added: “We aim to reshape global access to pleasure-based sex education and believe our AI Sex Coach is a significant step towards this goal.”
Beducated also highlighted that the AI coach is also in its prototype stage, so may still get things wrong, and advised it not to be used as a replacement for the personal guidance of a certified sex coach or therapist; who, of course, would be more well-equipped to deal with the subtle nuances of people’s sexual problems.
