For many VR porn users, the joy of the form comes from the standard first-person camera perspective the vast majority of videos and indeed live camming sessions in the sector use. Rather than creating the impression of being a voyeur looking in on a sex scene, it’s all about fashioning the illusion of reality.
Passthrough VR porn, which creates the illusion of the porn performer being in the actual surroundings of the headset wearer, is making this illusion more believable and is increasingly popular on the platforms.
Interesting, then, that one platform CEO has said that multiple-camera VR porn represents the “biggest opportunities” for the sector, and predicted that this will be a trend soon.

Steven Grooby, CEO of the trans-focused and modestly-titled VR porn site [NSFW] GroobyVR, told XBiz that VR porn platforms should be looking beyond the first-person perspective.
“The biggest opportunities are when we have more mobile cameras and more ability to shoot from multiple angles at the same time,” Grooby said.
He added: “When a complete scene can be filmed from multiple cameras and stitched together, a viewer with his headset can move around the scene, get as close as they want, lie under the bodies, etc. With AI and the right production, this should be possible, if not now, soon.”
While this might not seem like the wildest prediction, it’s notable that a VR porn platform CEO sees scope in investing in multiple-camera shoots. Many VR porn platforms have recently invested heavily in camera and editing innovations, from AI-assisted passthrough techniques to 6DoF movement, but these innovations have rarely challenged the dominance of the first-person camera perspective.
Ultimately what VR porn users want above all else is control, and any innovation that gives them more of that is likely to be welcomed. Switching to a non-first-person camera angle could risk diluting the illusion of participation, but sometimes users will just want a better angle of a performer’s assets: something multiple cameras would offer.
More VR avatar sex
Grooby also suggested that more interactive VR sex spaces would be seen soon in the industry, as AI makes format integration smoother.
Currently VR ‘metaverse’ platforms such as VRChat, ViRo Playspace and Resonate allow sexual scenarios between avatars and can involve sex toy syncing, but sometimes the latter isn’t native to the platform and requires workarounds.

“I see VR fitting really well with AI and the ability to create your own avatars, either realistic or more character-driven,” Grooby told XBiz. “Combine that with haptic devices and we’re in the realms of what we’ve seen in sci-fi for years: the ability to enter a virtual room, meet other real people who are in their virtual avatars, and interact sexually with them.”
Syncing interactive sex toys such as masturbators with VR porn content has already proved hugely popular, with SexLikeReal working on its own Melody stroker. The first images of which surfaced earlier this year, ahead of a planned 2026 launch, though the road there has not been smooth.
Grooby said that tech like this becoming the VR porn norm could make “virtual orgies” featuring multiple avatars far more of a thing.
Whether there’ll ever be as much appetite to use haptic devices when getting frisky with multiple avatars as much as with naked performers remains to be seen. But after the multiple camera angles get sorted, you wouldn’t bet against it.
