Why?

Can the world handle yet another social media launch? For the makers of Plaiir, a new app exclusively aimed at adult content creators, and specifically creators looking to organize porn collaboration sessions, the answer is yes.

The app lets adult content creators connect with others in the industry and message with them about potential collaboration sessions. Sex session ‘collabs’ featuring two or more creators have become more popular in recent years, as cammers and other content creators look to give their fans new or exclusive video content.

Plaiir launched in beta in January 2025 and has since been promoted with a creator-only launch event at New York’s Museum of Sex. Creators who sign up to use the app in beta can get a six-month ‘Pro’ level subscription to it.

Plaiir is currently free, but the future ‘Basic’ subscription fee is $9.90 per month. The ‘Pro’ subscription fee, which allows you to connect with creators globally rather than just locally, is $24.90 a month. The app is currently available in beta for iOS, with an Android version said to be on the way soon.

The functionality of Plaiir is similar to many social media and dating apps. You can connect with other creators when both approve the connection, then begin chats with them. If you organize an in-person collab session, you can use the app to help schedule the details, and it will also help with travel planning.

You can use the app to search for potential porn collaborators near you, using location functions. You can also display your social media profiles, plus image albums. To use Plaiir you need to get verified using government-issued ID, to confirm that you are aged 18 or over.

The Plaiir policy on porn content is where things get slightly hazy. Apple’s App Store strictly doesn’t allow nudity or porn content to be hosted by apps in its library, unless such content is hidden by default. In the EU some sideloading app stores that can be used on iPhones have found loopholes for these rules.

Plaiir’s own content policy states that nudity, sexually explicit material and pornography aren’t allowed on the app “unless within appropriate private albums and with mutual consent”. So, it may be the case that this could count as ‘hidden by default’, so could comply with Apple’s App Store terms.

SEXTECHGUIDE has contacted Plaiir to check how this can fit with Apple’s App Store content rules without the app getting banned, and will update this article with any response.

Cole Bing is the CEO and founder of Plaiir. He said he was inspired to launch it after becoming frustrated when trying to sort collaboration sessions with other creators on OnlyFans.

“There’s a real need for a dedicated networking platform in this space,” Bing said. “Creators are tired of cobbling together solutions across multiple platforms to find trusted collaborators. Plaiir streamlines this entire process.”

A spokesperson for Plaiir said that the app “addresses a significant gap in the market — a safe, verified space where content creators can connect locally or while traveling, collaborate on projects, and grow their networks without the friction of traditional social media.”

It’s certainly true that traditional social media platforms often throw up barriers for sex workers and porn creators, due to stringent anti-nudity and porn rules. An app that actively embraces porn creators seeking collabs could serve a niche well, if it doesn’t end up falling foul of the kinds of anti-porn rules it says it was created to help avoid.
