SkiiMoo Tech makes The VDOM™, an
app-connected prosthetic penis that goes from flaccid to erect with a smartphone swipe. Founded in 2019 by Glenise Kinard-Moore, a Black queer lesbian engineer, the Atlanta-based company set out to create a comfortable alternative to traditional strap-ons that actually feels like using your own body. The VDOM™ is designed for trans men, non-binary folks, and lesbian couples looking for something more intuitive than the bulky harness systems that have dominated the market for decades.
The company caught serious attention when it won second place and $250,000 at Pharrell Williams’ Black Ambition Prize in 2022, becoming the first sex tech startup to take home that award. Kinard-Moore invested over $300,000 of her own retirement savings into developing the technology, which targets a slice of the $37 billion sexual wellness industry that’s been pretty underserved. After
years of development, the VDOM™ finally launched to consumers, offering LGBTQ+ users a high-tech option that blends engineering innovation with real community needs.
