VR porn is one of the biggest drivers to the virtual reality space as a whole, and the number of sites and scenes available only continues to grow as this demand persists, and new people watch for the first time.

SEXTECHGUIDE spoke to Daniel Abramovich, CEO of VRBangers, about the meteoric rise of the adult VR market over the last few years.

Why did you decide to launch VRBangers, and when?“We started working on our product in Feburary 2015 and launched our site in January the following year. When we came up with the idea, there was actually nobody on the market doing VR porn, we just wanted to be the first to make something new and creative. [Editor’s Note: VRBangers wasn’t the first VR porn site available to users].

The adult industry is actually the number one driver to VR, because this is not something that you watch once and put away, you actually have thousands of interesting videos of your favorite porn stars that you can watch again and again.[…] The statistics on Google actually say that VR porn is the number one driver for the entire VR industry.”

Had you worked in VR before or was it new territory for you?

“I hadn’t worked in VR or the adult industry before and neither did my partner, we just decided to do something new that would blow everyone away. I’ve always been an entrepreneur and my partner has always been a tech guy, so this was a perfect match to make something work properly and become big.

Marketing and creativity are my strong sides and that’s why our brand is one of the leading brands in the VR porn industry. We don’t follow what our competitors do, we create new things that had never been created in the VR market before.”

What was the first year of business like?

“The first year was hard because we had to come up with the technology, learn the business and do pretty much everything on our own. It was trial and error but that’s what makes us stronger today then anyone else.”

What are some of the challenges in creating VR content?

“The challenges are the technology and user experience since it’s all still new for everyone. We’ve gone through more then 10 video VR camera rigs until we could build our custom rig that works for us and the customers. As technology is growing, people’s expectations are growing as well, so we need to create better quality, a more realistic video experience and more varied niches. We went from 4K resolution to 6K so that people can experience a better picture.

The video rig makes a big difference because it makes an impact on the scale of the actors. We’ve also developed our own propriety VR player called PLAY’A in order to make the experience more immersive, people can now customize pretty much everything in our app and make it work according to there taste.”

How have you seen numbers increase since your launch, and what does this tell you about the VR format’s popularity?

“Numbers have increased dramatically by 200% every year. Each day we have more and more members signing up. I would say that the industry is still very small but the leader of VR, which is Facebook, is doing a really good job on pushing it to the mass market. New cheaper headsets are coming out, and by 2020 we should see a really big chunk of people using and understanding what VR really is.”

How is VRBangers different to other VR porn sites?

“I would say by our creativity. Many sites just shoot VR content, but we create content and technology. We were among the first to stream VR porn, then we came up with our very own video rigs to make the experience more realistic. We work with fertility centers and we were the first VR porn company in the world to introduce 6K resolution. The list is a lot longer but again, we like to move forward as technology does.”

Any plans for expansion in 2019?

“2019 will be a strong year, we plan to release a few new cool projects for the VR market, which I can not disclose at the moment, but I can say that the experience will be much more fun.”
