Since June, WOW Tech’s contactless Pleasure Air technology has turned up in a lipstick-shaped sex toy, the Womanizer Beauty, and picked up a paying licensee in XR Brands, a rival that settled a WOW Tech patent lawsuit by agreeing to license the technology. The Beauty reaches North America on September 22, 2026.
The Berlin-based Womanizer maker, part of Lovehoney Group since its 2021 merger with the British retailer, owes much of its success to the patented tech. Originally developed for Womanizer sex toys, it involves a small pump making the air in front of it oscillate, letting you stimulate the clitoris (or other body part) without touching it.
Now this air-oscillating tech has made its way into lipstick. Or, at least, into a sex toy designed to look exactly like lipstick: the Womanizer Beauty, a revival of the lipstick-styled Womanizer 2GO from 2017, which went on sale in Europe on July 14.
At 174 millimeters long, the Beauty resembles a classic designer lipstick set and is slightly longer than the 164 millimeter Womanizer Next Liberty (pictured below), the travel-friendly device the brand released in July.
Womanizer’s US store lists it at $89 (£79 in the UK), though Adult FYI’s launch write-up quotes $79, so expect that number to move. It has six intensity levels, and it shows the parent company is keen to push Pleasure Air well beyond the conventional clit stimulator shape.
Lawsuits and licensing
Beyond lipstick, Pleasure Air now sits, with WOW Tech’s blessing, inside sex toys made by California-based XR Brands. The blessing came via the courts.
WOW Tech had sued XR Brands for patent infringement over the clit-focused sex toys it sells with air movement systems that WOW Tech said infringed its Pleasure Air patents. The case was settled in June, with XR Brands agreeing to become a licensee of WOW Tech’s patent portfolio for an undisclosed sum plus ongoing royalty payments.
How do you spin paying to license the technology you were sued over? XR Brands President Rebecca Weinberg did a solid job of it, saying her company “has always been a supporter of innovation and fair competition in the marketplace.”
Weinberg added: “We are pleased to have reached a resolution that enables us to move forward while honoring WOW Tech’s intellectual property. We value this opportunity to work together and offer our customers the ability to sell these top selling products knowing they are covered by this license agreement.”
It wasn’t WOW Tech’s first Pleasure Air lawsuit rodeo. In 2023 a US jury sided with WOW Tech after it countersued EIS Inc, which makes Satisfyer vibrators, and awarded it $12.8 million. EIS had sued WOW Tech in 2018 over alleged antitrust violations and unfair competition, and ended up being found to have infringed WOW Tech’s patents instead.
Also in 2023 WOW Tech won a $2.2 million default judgment against the now-defunct sextech brand Lora DiCarlo over Womanizer patent infringement, though with the defendant having gone dark, the money was never likely to arrive.
Once the XR Brands licensing deal was done, Lovehoney Group CEO Johannes Plettenberg said the agreement “reaffirms WOW Tech’s commitment to protecting our intellectual property” and that he looked forward to “a productive licensing relationship that supports innovation while respecting creators’ rights”.
Pleasure Air, then, is expanding through both new launches and vigorous legal representation, and if your device makes air oscillate anywhere near a clit, you’d better be sure you’re legally covered.
