Vibease ‘lipstick’ vibrator responds to (and gives) voice commands

Following the launch of Vibease’s first smart vibrator in 2016, the firm now has its sights set firmly on introducing AI to the bedroom – or rather, the handbag, as its newest product could be mistaken for a lipstick.

Drawing inspiration from the movie Her, where a man falls in love with his voice-operated assistant voiced by Scarlett Johansson, the San Francisco company hopes to reach its goal of almost $25,000 by December 7 to make its latest offering a reality.

Vibease’s Smart Lipstick is able to respond to voice commands with verbal answers and vibrations. Some sample questions from the toy include: ‘How are you feeling?’ and ‘Would you like a massage?’.

In turn, users can control the level of vibrations via voice command – for example, asking to speed up things triggers the response, ‘Anything for you, baby’ (which really could sound a bit creepy, depending on how the response is delivered).

Similarly to Vibease’s debut toy, the Smart Lipstick’s vibrations can sync with erotic audiobooks available via the Vibease app – the vibrations become more intense as the story hots up. There’s also functionality for a partner to remotely control the vibrator via the app, which means AI is now edging its way into the growing smart sex toy market.

The Bluetooth-enabled app will be available for Apple and Android phones and Vibease aims to begin mass-producing the vibrator in December, provided it reaches its Kickstarter target in the same month.

The Smart Lipstick’s voice activation feature is in keeping with the interactivity trend seen at the Venus Berlin erotic trade fair earlier this month, where a spokesperson for sex toy manufacturer Lelo revealed it wouldn’t be long before you could sync one of its products to Amazon’s Alexa system.

If art continues to imitate life like this, it might not be long before Scarlett Johansson is the voice of Vibease products. Johansson might not be so keen on that scenario, but stranger things have certainly happened in the world of sextech.
