Lovense is primarily known for two things: helping long-distance couples connect sexually, and being a go-to toy provider for online sex workers such as cam performers. Perhaps one of my most controversial sex toy opinions is that early iterations of the original Lovense Lush, this company’s most iconic product, were not very good. I tried the Lush 2 and I found its motor lackluster and its functionality limited.
However, never let it be said that toy manufacturers don’t listen to feedback and try new things. Lovense has released the much-anticipated Lush 4, the latest version of this product, and kindly sent me one to try out.
Lovense Lush: Design, features and what’s new
The Lovense Lush 4 is a bulb-shaped vibrator with a long tail, designed to be worn inside the vagina. It is made of body-safe silicone in Lovense’s signature shade of hot pink and has a customizable LED light strip on the tip of the tail. It has a total length of 8 inches when straightened out, an insertable length of 3.5 inches and a diameter of 1.46 inches at the widest point. It weighs just 75 grams.
This toy is USB chargeable and comes with a magnetic cable. It is also IPX7 waterproof (though the Bluetooth connectivity will not work well in water).
Lovense says the Lush 4 can be cleaned with warm water and soap, and recommends using a water-based lube with it.
So what sets the Lovense Lush 4 apart from earlier products in the range? There are a few notable upgrades:
- It uses the same motor as the Lush 3, which boasts a maximum speed of 7000 RPM and is an upgrade from the weaker motor used in the Lush 1 and 2.
- Its battery life has been significantly extended, offering up to a whopping 350 minutes (about 6 hours) of runtime on a full charge, which takes just 45 minutes.
- There is now also a rapid-charging option that takes just five minutes and gives you around an hour of runtime.
- The design of both the neck and external arm have been refined, designed for more comfortable wear.
The Lush 4 launched in February 2025 with a list price of $259, although Lovense sold it for $129 at the time. That made it slightly more expensive than Kiiroo’s $109 Spot, a rival G-spot vibrator with a light show of its own.
Lovense Lush 4 review: In use
Outside of testing and reviewing, I rarely reach for internal vibrators. Like the vast majority of people with vulvas, I need sustained clitoral stimulation to reach orgasm. I also don’t particularly like internal vibrations, which tend to become uncomfortable quickly.
With that said, there was still plenty for me to like about the Lovense Lush 4.
First, I think the shape of the insertable bulb is excellent. It stays in place well and sits comfortably when inserted, thanks to the gradually tapered neck, and the bulge on the underside provides pressure against the G-spot. Even if, like me, you’re not a big fan of internal vibrations, this toy can find use as a “love egg”/Kegel exerciser type toy.
I also rate the Lovense Lush 4 pretty highly as a vibrator, whether you enjoy internal or external stimulation. The Lush 4’s motor is both significantly stronger and significantly more rumbly than the one used in earlier iterations of this product. When I use this toy as a clitoral vibrator, I can reach orgasm pretty fast and reliably. By the way: that bulging shape I mentioned previously? Brilliant for clitoral stimulation.
This is also the quietest iteration of the Lovense Lush yet, with a minimum noise level of just 36 dB compared to the Lush 3’s 38 dB, according to Lovense. It’s not a huge change, but if you need to be discreet, this might be a plus for you.
There were also a few things I found frustrating about the Lovense Lush 4. Used in the intended way, there is almost nothing in the way of clitoral stimulation. The long tail and its flat, arrow-shaped tip can sort of be angled to sit against the clitoris, and I think this was the intention, but there are three pretty big problems here:
- The vibrating tip won’t reach the clitoris on most people. On me, it ends somewhere around my pubic bone.
- It’s too floppy and flimsy to stay in place properly without holding it there manually.
- Only the faintest of vibrations transmit along the tail into the tip.
If you enjoy dual stimulation, I’d recommend either choosing a toy with two motors, or pairing an insertable toy like the Lovense Lush 4 with a clitoral vibrator.
I also don’t like the single-button manual interface, which means you have to scroll all the way through the various settings if you want to go back one step. Having just three speeds and four patterns built in is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it means scrolling through them all is only mildly annoying. On the other hand, it really limits the toy’s functionality if you want to use it without the app.
Lovense Lush 4 app functionality
I often say that Lovense’s app is one of the most usable, responsive and fully featured on the market, and this product has not changed my stance on that.
Lovense’s free app is available in the Android and iOS app stores, and can be used to connect and control your Lush 4 and many other Lovense products. Connecting my toy via Bluetooth took just a few seconds.
The most basic yet useful function of the Lovense app is the Remote function, which allows you to choose and change the vibration settings from your phone. This saves you from having to use those annoying manual controls I mentioned above. The My Patterns section allows you to browse inbuilt settings, save and create your own and explore patterns that other users have created. There are also dozens of games, ways to sync your toy to music or other content and ways to interact remotely with other users. If novelty is your thing, you’ll never get bored.
The main draw of app-controlled toys for many users is the ability to hand over control to someone else. Wherever you are in the world, your partner can control your toy from the app as long as they have an internet connection. The long-distance functionality is fast and responsive, allowing you to have sex remotely in real time. If you’d prefer to hand over control for a limited time (for example, if you’re a cam performer), you can do this via the Control Link feature.
For those looking to use the Lush 4 for online sex work, there are numerous impressive features to help you connect with your fans. As well as handing over control during a session, you can use vibration settings or temporary controls as a way to encourage your viewers to tip, add a fun element of visual interest with the LED light function and integrate your toy seamlessly with any of over 1,000 popular camming sites.
Any remote control, whether by a partner or by viewers, should be agreed in advance with the person wearing the toy. Lovense’s app has also had security flaws. In July 2025, a security researcher reported that users’ email addresses could be exposed and accounts taken over, having disclosed the problems to Lovense in March of that year. Lovense told BleepingComputer at the time that an update addressing the vulnerabilities had been submitted to app stores, and the researcher later said both flaws were fixed on July 30, 2025.
Lovense Lush 4 review: Verdict
While I don’t expect the Lovense Lush 4 to become a favorite of mine due to the issues and preferences outlined above, I do think this product is a marked improvement on previous toys in this range. If you have and enjoy the Lush 3, which has the same motor, you probably don’t need to invest in this one unless specific additional features are important to you. If you have a Lush 1 or 2, on the other hand, this version is a significant upgrade.
A great shape, good motor and comprehensive app functionality combine to make this an overall solid product.
Apart from the lack of clitoral stimulation, my biggest criticism comes back to something I say about app-controlled toys again and again: I wish the app wasn’t quite so critical to enjoying this toy to its full potential. Using an app is fine sometimes, but it’s also something I don’t want to have to deal with every time I use a toy. For future versions of the Lush (because I’m sure this won’t be the last), I’d love to see much better manual controls.
