Long-distance relationships are hard. From missing your person (or people) to finding it hard to connect sexually across the miles, numerous challenges arise from living far away from your partner(s), whether the situation is temporary or permanent.
Lovense, a company that has been sitting at the cutting edge of sex tech since it started life back in 2010, is dedicated to solving at least one of those challenges through innovative long-distance sex toys. Allowing your lover to control your toy isn’t quite the same as having them in the same room, of course, but it can be the next best thing when it comes to maintaining a happy and healthy sexual connection in a long-distance relationship.
Lovense has just launched the Osci 3 app-controlled rabbit vibrator and was kind enough to send me one to test.
Design & Technology
Osci is Lovense’s line of oscillating toys, and this newest iteration is preceded by the Osci 2, a G-spot toy. The Osci 3 is a rabbit vibrator made of body-safe silicone in Lovense’s signature shade of hot pink.
The Osci 3 measures 8.5″ in length and 1.5″ in diameter at the widest insertable point, with an insertable length of around 5″. Its internal arm features a G-spot stimulator which, rather than vibrating, oscillates at speeds of 4000-6000 oscillations per minute. This provides a targeted “tapping” sensation. It also has a flexible vibrating clitoral stimulator, and a warming function that heats the shaft up to 38-42°C (i.e. just above normal human body temperature.)
The Osci 3 is IPX7 waterproof, meaning that you can submerge it completely in water. Great for playing in the bath or shower, as well as making clean-up easy! It is rechargeable via the included USB cable, and a charge time of 75 minutes gives you up to three hours of battery life.
Like most Lovense toys, the Osci 3 is app-compatible with Lovense’s Remote app (free to both Android and iOS users.) This offers numerous additional features as well as long-distance functionality, which we’ll look at in more detail below.
Though I wouldn’t describe the Osci 3 as “quiet”, it’s also not too loud, especially given the level of power it offers. The sound is easy to tune out while in use – which can’t be said for some other toys.
Performance in use
The first thing I noticed upon switching on my Osci 3 was the strength of both the vibrations and the oscillations. The vibrations are powerful and, for a rabbit vibrator, unusually rumbly. Good start! The oscillations are so powerful that I almost wish there was one additional lower setting.
Even at the slowest speed, they can still be too much if you’re not completely warmed up.
Speaking of the oscillations, I absolutely love this function. I don’t really like internal vibrations very much and, based on anecdotal data from my readers, neither do a surprising number of people with vulvas!
The oscillations provide a really different sensation, more akin to the “come hither” motion you can get from a partner’s fingers, only faster and more intense. The oscillations are also more focused than a typical G-spot vibrator, honing in on that one spot rather than vibrating the entire vagina.
The flexibility of the clitoral stimulator means that this toy will work for many different shapes and sizes of body. I would have preferred the shaft to have some flexibility too, but it’s still reasonably customizable when it comes to choosing the position and angle that works for you.
The shaft has a strong curve and is narrower towards the bottom, making for both comfortable insertion and easy G-spot targeting. The handle is also ergonomic and comfortable to hold, great for people with mobility issues.
The heating function is a nice extra and does alter how the toy feels. I also find it makes insertion more comfortable as the toy feels more like an extension of my body. I can imagine that, if you were playing with a partner long distance, this could help to enhance the feeling that they are “touching” you even from far away.
It takes just 1-1.5 minutes to bring the Osci 3 up to temperature.
Regarding the material of the toy, the silicone is incredibly matte, which can feel quite grabby against the skin. I would have expected a slightly softer and smoother silicone for a toy at this price point.
User Experience, Interface and App Functionality
The toy’s two motors are completely separate, and each has its own control button. You can use them together, use one without the other, or program them to different speeds and settings.
I do wish the Osci 3 had dual-directional controls for each motor, though. Having to scroll through all the speeds and patterns–3 constant speeds and 4 patterns for the external stimulator, 5 speeds and 4 patterns for the oscillator–just to go back a step is offputting and can be incredibly distracting.
Like many Lovense toys, you do need to use the app (called “Lovense Remote” found on iOS and Android) to experience this toy at its best. Once I’d downloaded the app, connecting the toy was easy and took about five seconds.
When you’re logged in, the Lovense Osci 3 becomes impressively fully featured with the app. Just a few of the things you can do include:
- Use the “Remote” function to control the toy’s two motors independently or together
- Use the “My Patterns” function to explore the toy’s various patterns or to create and save your own
- Sync your toy to music stored on your device with the “Music” function

Add your partner as a connection and hand over control to them from anywhere.(Bonus: for anyone who is non-monogamously inclined, the Lovense app allows you to add multiple partners if you want to. Most sex toy apps do not have this function and, since polyamorous people are more likely to be in long-distance relationships than their monogamous counterparts, it is a very welcomed feature.)
- Use a “Control Link” to hand over control anonymously for a set amount of time. The additional privacy and flexibility afforded by this feature is one of the reasons Lovense toys are so popular with online sex workers such as cam performers.
- Explore and sync up with various forms of interactive content and other adult apps
- Turn on the sound-responsive mode to make your toy respond to ambient noise, your partner’s voice, or whatever other sounds you choose
- Play games such as the anonymous “Control Roulette”
Overall, the Lovense app is easy to use. It stays connected well, and the near-instant response time is excellent. If you own multiple Lovense toys, you can store them all within the app and switch between them easily depending on which one you want to use for each session.
My reality is that I don’t really use sex toy apps very often when I’m using toys by myself. I generally find them more hassle than they are worth. However, this all changes when I’m in a long-distance relationship. And in those situations, I do think that Lovense offers the absolute best app-controlled toys currently on the market.
However, I wish that more of this toy’s features were accessible without the app.
Final Verdict
The Lovense Osci 3 is an excellent app-controlled rabbit vibrator. The innovative use of oscillating technology rather than traditional vibrations elevates it from “good” to “great” for me, making it stand out from the countless other rabbit vibrators already on the market. When you add in the heating function, the powerful clitoral vibrations, and the great long-distance connectivity, you get an impressive amount of bang for your buck.
If you don’t want to use an app with your toys, I cannot fully recommend this one as it does rely on the app for many of its best features and functions. However, if you’re happy to use an app or if you’re looking for a rabbit vibrator you can use with a partner long distance, the Lovense Osci 3 is a fantastic choice.
