Pros & Cons

What I Liked

  • At 45–50ºC or 113–122ºF, the device gets truly warm to the touch and is noticeable during play.
  • The massager has three different settings to choose from.
  • It’s aesthetically pleasing and easy to leave out on your nightstand.

What I Didn't Like

  • It doesn’t come with a travel bag.
  • While the toy is splashproof, it’s not fully waterproof.
  • It's expensive.

Cleansing your aura can look like a lot of different things: Staying hydrated, regular walks in nature, spending time with friends, meditating and, if you’re anything like me, masturbating. Enter a new vibrator with a perfectly apt name for the occasion: Mila’s Aura.

Described as a first of its kind by the brand, the Aura claims to meet folks with vulvas where they are and is intended to become part of their everyday routines, like someone who might make a matcha each morning or practice a daily skincare regimen. According to Mila’s website, the Aura is designed to fit seamlessly into users’ pleasure experience by offering four functions: vibration, suction, warmth and a finger-like sensation intended to mimic real touch.

So, of course, I had to try the four-in-one vibrator out for myself. I went in wondering whether a multifunction toy would be the sex-toy equivalent of three-in-one shampoo (never great) or whether it might actually be good enough to replace everything else in my drawer.

That question is what sent me into testing.

Unboxing the Mila Aura

When it arrived at my door, the Aura came in a lovely pale pink box with Mila written in gold font on the front. Inside the box lay the toy, which is pale pink and made of soft, medical-grade and body-safe silicone. It also comes with a USB-C cable to recharge the toy.

It doesn’t, however, come with a small storage bag for the toy. It’s a small detail that’s missed, but something I find important as someone who travels often.

Shaped like a teardrop, the Aura device is about the size of the palm of your hand. On the back of the device, there are four buttons: one to power on the device and activate the warmth setting, one to control the massage setting, another for vibration and lastly, one for suction.

Using the device

After unboxing my very own Aura, I was excited to test out the sensations of the four-in-one toy.

First things first: I charged it up in under an hour, as it came already precharged, but I wanted to make sure it had the full power boost. When I held it in my hands, I pressed all of the buttons to get a feel for what they did. As mentioned, unlike other devices that might have one or two functions, the Aura showcases buttons for its four capabilities on the active side of the device.

Where you’d press the toy against a vulva, there is a slightly protruding section that provides suction to the clitoris, which is a similar shape to many other suction toys. Plus, the entire toy can also vibrate and warm. Around the suction area, one can also turn on the massage feature, which shows up as a bead underneath the surface of the silicone that moves in circles, meant to mimic the feeling of fingertips massaging the clitoris.

Right away, I loved the warming functionality of the toy. I turned it on and waited for it to get warm to the touch. It felt like a nice start to play, instead of pressing a cold toy against myself. Then, I tried out the massage setting, which was unlike anything I’d felt from a toy before; it was light, but also allowed me to get to an arousal level that made me turn on both the vibration and suction at the same time.

The vibration felt quite typical for a toy, but I found my personal favorite was the mix of massaging and the suction, which has six suction levels to choose from. Throughout, none of the settings felt too powerful or overwhelming, either. I could get there without feeling too much intensity at any moment.

The pros & cons

So what are the pros and cons of a toy that claims to do it all? Here’s the breakdown.

Pros

To start, the warmth setting is actually warm. Over many years of reviewing sex toys for a living, a lot of vibrators claim they heat up, but in my experience, most don’t actually feel noticeably warm. If it is noticeable, the price point of warming vibrators tends to be pretty high. With the Aura, the heat was actually noticeable. When powering on the Aura, I pressed the “on” button and clicked it a second time to activate the heat function. Within a minute, it was noticeably warm it felt similar to skin touching skin, with a temperature range of 45–50ºC or 113–122ºF. I pressed it against my skin and it felt both sexy and comforting.

As someone who dislikes using toys that are cold to the touch, I found that the warmth function helped me get more in the mood for solo play.

After I pressed the warmth to my skin, I decided to try out what is arguably the star of the show for the Aura: the massager. The massaging feature doesn’t vibrate, but instead, is almost like a rollerball underneath the silicone’s surface that moves in a motion that fingers might. It doesn’t just move at one slow pace; it offers three massage speeds to choose from. Pressing it against my vulva, the sensation was subtle, but I liked it that way. As for Mila’s claims that this feature is akin to the feeling of fingers massaging your vulva, I’d say it was pretty darn close to that.

Another huge piece of Mila’s Aura is that, well, it’s not unsightly. Hey, in my opinion, this is a toy that I’d actually feel comfortable leaving out on my nightstand. The baby pink, ultra-soft silicone and cute droplet shape make for a great addition to any collection. Plus, it’s girlie! This might not seem like a huge pro, but in my opinion, having a sex toy that both works well and is aesthetically pleasing is important. A lot of toys out there don’t manage both.

Cons

There are plenty of great things about the Aura, but what about the downsides? In my testing, a few issues stood out.

I travel a lot. And I mean a lot. So when I buy a sex toy, I want it to be both travel-friendly, not too big and, of course, come with a cute and inconspicuous travel bag for easy packing. But the Aura doesn’t come with a small storage bag for the toy, unlike many of the other toys on the market. Even a small silk bag would have done the job. Yes, it’s a small detail that’s missed, but something I find important.

And even more, some folks just want a travel bag to keep it clean in their own home.

It’s also not a great option if you’re into water play. Think shower sex, a rendezvous in a pool, bringing a toy on vacation or even having a solo session in the bathtub. The Aura isn’t suited for those occasions. The toy is only splashproof, so a little water here and there won’t hurt. But it is not fully waterproof or submersible like other toys on the market. Don’t dunk this one completely under.

Lastly, it does have quite an expensive price tag at $179.99. However, I do think that its design and capabilities are worth the cost if it fits your budget.

Having one toy vs. many

As a professional sex toy reviewer, I’ve tried a multitude of vibrators. And as SEXTECHGUIDE knows all too well, there are truly a lot of options out there an overwhelming amount, some might say.

By that token, I can see the appeal of having one toy that does it all. If a person with a vulva is into the concept of paring down or gets easily overwhelmed with choices instead of having one suction toy, one vibrator or even a vibrator that also warms the Aura could have small bits of it all, in one.

On the other hand, though, as someone who has tried out many toys and often reaches for different toys depending on my mood, the moment, or even a certain feeling I am looking to have, I do think it can often be better to have a variety on hand.

And then there is, perhaps, the biggest question to ask: Does a four-in-one multifunctional toy resemble using a three-in-one shampoo? Or, rather, is it better to have a few toys that are good at what they’re good at versus one toy that does it all?

Unfortunately, the answer to this is based on personal preference. But I did notice that, for me personally, I’d much rather have several toys to choose from instead of one that does things half-heartedly. For example, unlike some other vibrators with more vibration modes to choose from, the Aura only has four modes. I felt similarly about the suction modes, which didn’t have nearly as much capability as other suction toys I’ve tried.

But if fewer mode options don’t bother you, the Aura is worth trying.

Mila’s Aura is a good fit for people with vulvas who want to simplify their pleasure routine into one device and don’t need variety in settings or a more intense experience.

MILA AURA REVIEW: FOUR-IN-ONE SIMPLICITY THAT NEVER TURNS UP THE INTENSITY

A multifunctional sex toy that works well while looking good.

Mila’s four-in-one vibrator, a suction toy, massager and warming toy all in one, is meant for people with vulvas. The star of the show, the massager, is meant to mimic the feeling of fingertips, while the other features don’t have as many setting options as other vibrators on the market.
