A discreet clitoral vibrator, the OhMiBod Club Vibe 3.OH Panty Vibe is designed with sound responsive technology for the serious music lovers out there. For $119, you get a remote control and a one-size fits all black lace thong with a custom designed pocket to slot in the vibrator. Not to be mistaken for the company’s – and its competitor LoveHoney’s – app-controlled panty vibrators, Club Vibe 3.OH is purely for local wireless control.

The Club Vibe 3.OH Panty Vibe is $119, and is naturally a little pricier than its predecessor, the 2.OH, which still retails at $89. So what are the main differences?

Unlike the OhMiBod 2.OH’s two settings manual and club mode, the 3.OH has three settings, Tease Mode (manual), Groove Mode (set patterns), and Club Mode (sound responsive). Though the 3.OH has a whole added groove mode and five patterns, the 2.OH originally had five intensity levels whereas the 3.OH has only one.

They both offer a similar wireless range, claiming up to 20-feet each.

Perhaps the main difference in price is down to the change in materials. The 2.OH is ABS plastic, while the 3.OH is made from body-safe silicone, which is soft to the touch, compared to the hard plastic ABS.

Club Vibe 3.OH Review: Design

The OhMiBod packaging is simple, white, with a touch of sex on it. The image on top of the box is of a busty woman dancing, with the remote in one hand, and she looks as though she may be enjoying the music a little too much… The packaging is a reminder that co-founder Suki Dunham used to work in product marketing with Apple, and OhMiBod’s first product was originally marketed towards iPod users back in 2006.

Inside the box is a manual, the remote, the vibrator, a silky pouch, the black lace thong, and a USB charger with two outlets – one for the remote and one for the vibe, for simultaneous charging.

To turn on is relatively easy, you just hold down the only button on the device and a white light will flash indicating it’s on. The remote does the same. After 20 minutes of no use, both devices will turn off automatically to conserve power.

The manual also mentions the device may be splash proof, but not waterproof. It is not to be used in wet conditions, like a bath or shower. Wash after every use very carefully, with soap and water, without submerging it, and without getting any water into the charging socket.

OhMiBod says the device lasts 1+ hours in full use from 1.5 hours of charging.

Club Vibe 3.OH Review: In Use

When testing this product, it was essential to find the right moments for my public experimentation. Amy Norton reminds us that “including others in your sex play without their consent is never okay, and forcing unsuspecting members of the public to know that you’re wearing a vibrator counts as including them.”

A Public Attempt

For a first go, enjoying this product with my partner on Fireworks Night, with loud outdoor noises seemed like a great idea. So I slipped on the black lace thong under my jeans and popped the tiny device into the pocket. It was discreet enough (no embarrassing bulge) and the vibrations were only as loud as a mobile phone.

What was not a good idea, however, was cycling to the destination with the device in, as the pressure caused it to slip out, making for an uncomfortable ride – fearing I would lose it down my trouser leg.

What I also learned from that first public experience is that, even though you can leave it on for 20 minutes on standby, the light indicating it’s on is on the underside of the device. Inevitably, my publicly fiddling around with turning it on and off, in the rain, with people around, became more hassle than it was worth. We soon gave up, fearing it would get too wet and damaged. We decided to experiment again when dry and back at home.

Teased & Grooved

Once in a private environment, we played around with the different modes. Despite it only having one intensity level, I was quick to discover the preset patterns in Groove Mode were initially too intense and buzzy for my clitoris. However the Tease Mode was great for building up tension and excitement. There were a few issues with connectivity that meant it seemed you had to point the remote directly at the device area for it to work – something that has since not been an issue during my solo testing.

The thong that comes in one size, does have a lot of give for differently sized people, but I doubt they “fit all” and wonder if the company could offer other sizes. Handily, it will fit snug into the lining of most knickers. The bonus of wearing one designed for this purpose is the fact that it “keeps the power to please in just the right place”, and this was true for sexual play involving penetration as it allowed for clitoral stimulation while just moving a bit of the material to the side.

During sex we discovered that Groove Mode was much more effective and practical, as it allowed for hands free pleasure, and I was more ready for the stronger sensation.

Technically Techno

Unfortunately, during my test-run, I didn’t get the chance to go to a nightclub to experience the full Club Mode effects. Nevertheless, from my solo testing at home, I can safely say I would love to try it at a gig, and I predict it will be a great experience.

For the first moments of exploring the Club Mode, I felt frustrated at the lack of sensitivity the device had to my music. But of course, always re-read the manual! To adjust its sensitivity to sound merely press the Club Mode button again. With three levels of sensitivity, you can really tell the difference.

Depending on your taste in music, certain genres definitely packed more of a punch, including techno and electro. While classical music needed to build to the crescendo for it to really get going, pop songs with a good beat were thoroughly enjoyable and profoundly accurate. It really is a different way of “feeling” music. What would be even better is having different intensities to match the volume of music and create a variety of sensations.

OhMiBod Club Vibe 3.OH Review: Verdict

Though I didn’t experience my own “crescendo” with this device, I enjoyed each experience, and hope to explore more public fun, with my partner out at a restaurant, or in a techno club on my own. I’m certain Berlin’s nightlife is crawling with them already, and if not, they should be. Do be sure to ration the juice though if it’s going to be a long night, as the device only has roughly an hour of battery.

The vibrations are technically on the buzzier side, and normally this would bother me as someone who prefer rumblier sensations, but as it sits behind a lining of material, and is shaped to offer broad clitoral stimulation, it was just fine. More intensity variations would probably make this an even better toy.

Whether you’re in the club, at a party, or in the bedroom, this device will help you “feel the music” in a whole new way. As long as you enjoy music with a strong beat. Classical music lovers probably aren’t going to get the best out of this device.
