VirtualRealPassion review: Can a VR porn site for women convert a doubter?

Until fairly recently, I was what could be described as a virtual reality n00b, so I was a little anxious when asked to deliver a VirtualRealPassion review. I have what I would call a respectable habit of consuming generic pornography and I must admit to being ever so slightly dubious as to whether the whole VR thing wasn’t actually a bit of a gimmick.
Nonetheless, with my intrepid reviewer hat on (note: hat is metaphorical unless you count the headset), I was ready to check out one of – if not the only – VR porn site aimed directly at women.

Testing with a generic smartphone headset and iPhone 6S, I found the site simple enough to navigate and use, and there are various useful filters for searching for VR videos by actor (physical characteristics and age), genre, POV position, date, ‘likes’, length, etc. Each also has a ‘best viewed’ icon to indicate the best position for optimal viewing.
As with VirtualRealPassion’s sister-site VirtualRealPorn, all the videos can be viewed on all the major headsets: PlayStationVR (PSVR), Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Smartphone Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR, and there are comprehensive support pages onsite for all headset types if you find yourself stuck on how to actually get started.
I was surprised by just how immersive VR porn is. Equipped with 180-degree views and binaural sound, the films themselves were of fairly decent quality. The plots weren’t hugely groundbreaking, but let’s face it, it’s not the reason any of us is watching VR porn.
VirtualRealPassion’s scenes are well-shot and decently lit, and most of the actors seemed able, willing and attractive. The catalog could be a little more ethnically diverse – something we’ve seen before with niche sites – as there’s not currently a huge representation of of non-white people. It’s also worth noting that despite a roughly even split between lesbian and straight scenes, they still seemed to be pretty male gaze.
As a bisexual person who enjoys That Sort of Thing, and despite the male gaze thing, both the lesbian and the straight films were well shot and enjoyable. The female POV was a novel and welcome experience too, adding some variety to the experience. The majority of the films featured two people, with a couple of threesomes and roughly a third solo, the majority of those female.
VirtualRealPassion currently has 112 scenes available to either stream or download, featuring performers. The company told us that it’s adding around two scenes each month.
VirtualRealPassion: Headset Support and Features
Like the rest of the best VR porn sites, VirtualRealPassion supports all of the major headsets and VR devices currently on the market.
For PSVR users it’s worth keeping in mind that there’s no streaming VR option for you – it’s downloads only, but that’s the case on all sites.
One excellent facility that VirtualRealPassion offers subscribers is its teledildonic-enabled content, allowing you to connect either the Kiiroo Pearl (an interactive vibrator) or one of the vibrating toys from the Lovense series of Bluetooth-enabled devices and gain even more from the VR experience.
VirtualRealPassion: Pricing
VirtualRealPassion has a super-simple pricing structure that doesn’t require any ongoing monthly subscription – each video is priced at €2.95 and you simply buy as many as you want as you go along.
Given that the catalog’s quite small currently, it’s a smart way to approach the overall pricing. Presumably, as it grows and the catalog gets larger, it could switch to subscription-based plans instead, but that’s just hypothesising at this stage.

Overall, I would say this is a great choice for anyone on a budget, as $2.95 per scene is a pretty fair price for some pretty decent VR porn, and cheaper than if you were to buy individual scenes from a site such as SexLikeReal. It’s also a good choice for the technologically impaired – if I can get to grips with it then anyone can.
If you’re a connected sex toy owner (Lovense, Kiiroo) it’s also pretty compelling, as all the scenes support either one device or the other. I can’t think of another site where all the scenes are supported. On the downside, more diversity would be a good addition in terms of ethnic representation, and as a site marketed specifically towards women, it would be good for them to consider making a point of featuring porn made by female directors – something I think many women would make a point of watching.
If that is the VR porn you’re jonesing for though, there’s always YanksVR to check out but it’s a bit more expensive.
