Porn, technology and sex work are to be among the themes discussed at the 2022 Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) Conference, set to take place in Vancouver on November 3-6, with some sessions streaming online.
The meet-up for the organization, which is “dedicated to advancing knowledge of sexuality and communicating scientifically based sexuality research and scholarship”, will take place in person at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Center, as well as online.
On November 3 at the event a session called Pornography, Technology and Sex Work will take place. It will cover highly-realistic sex dolls, future research on porn and how it affects behavior will be covered.
Speakers at the session will include Jeanne Desbbuleaux-Rettel, of the University of Duisburg-Essen’s Institute of Forensic Psychiatry and Sex Research. Nathan Leonhardt, Doctor of Philosophy a Brigham Young University, and Dr William A. Fisher, a Kinsey Institute award-winning sex researcher.
Elsewhere at the event, kink and non-monogamy will be explored in a session led by Susan Wright, founder and executive director of the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom. The organization works to promote “equal rights for consenting adults who engage in alternative sexual and relationship expressions”.
Research into transgender issues will be examines in a session with Professor Aaron Devor, founder of the University of Victoria’s Transgender Archives. There will also be a session on justice, diversity, equity and inclusion.
