A new sex life ‘virtual assistant’ app that offers a range of sex education, sex tips, and sex advice through tasks, quizzes, and games is set to launch in beta mode soon.

Quinky offers games aimed to help you “discover ways to connect with yourself and others”, with subjects such as squirting and sex music as some of the issues tackled. You can sign up for the waiting list for Quinky’s beta testing at the app’s website.

Taking elements of couples apps as well as gaming apps, the pitch from Quinky appears to be a Gen Z-focused, splashy, color-blast take on sex aid and advice apps, which tend to be aimed at users older than Gen Z. The company says it wants to be the “Duolingo of sex education“.

When creating your profile on the app you input your sexual preferences to help the content be tailored to what you’re into. The app has two modes, ‘Kinky’ and ‘Quinky’, so you can toggle between kinky and “cute” content with the respective modes. The “cute” Quinky mode still seems pretty sex-focused, including explorations of erogenous zones as a topic.

Quinky co-founder and CEO Mariia Plotkina said that the app was inspired by her work with high-school students who, she noticed, got much of their sex education from porn or social media. She worked with entrepreneur Neahme Jbaily to create the app to attempt to make a “safe, inclusive, and visually appealing platform for sexual education”.

Games and activities include a music playlist task that involves synchronizing your body movement with a song. Its makers have been keen to stress that Quinky is aimed at people of all gender identities and sexual orientations, with games specifically made for people who are on the asexual spectrum and for couples in long-distance relationships.

Quinky recently secured $100,000 from its first round of funding, from Singapore-based startup accelerator Antler.

“The Internet and mobile apps have got us all hooked on dopamine – so when we’re coming into an app, we expect to be rewarded for our time and entertained. So, each visit to the app should be accompanied by positive emotions – because that’s also what good sex and great relationships are about,” the company wrote in a blog post.

There’s no definitive confirmation on what platforms the app will ultimately be available on, but it’s a pretty safe bet to assume that a native iOS app is on the way considering the screenshots used on the site. Either way, we’ve contacted the company to find out for sure, and will update here when we receive a response.
