Aylo-owned porn studio [very NSFW] Brazzers has launched a dedicated VR porn site, a move that further strengthens the case that VR is seen as the online porn industry’s most important growth area.
Brazzers VR has had a rather low-key launch, however, kicking off with a VR porn video library containing just 28 videos, as of early October 2024).
The new subscription site promises to allow you to “immerse yourself in full HD 8K 120FPS VR”, indicating videos streaming at 120 frames per second (FPR): a speed that shows smooth movement and is often considered a threshold to avoid motion sickness from VR use. However, the site also declares that its supported specifications are 60 and 30 FPS. SEXTECHGUIDE has contacted Brazzers for clarification on the current supported specs.
The video library of Brazzers VR on launch features primarily point of view (POV) VR videos, the likes of which have proved hugely popular for rival VR porn sites such as SexLikeReal and POVR.
It costs $42.99 per 30 days, or $149.99 a year for a Brazzers subscription that includes the main Brazzers site and brands, plus Brazzers VR. For just access to Brazzers VR, it costs $29.99 for 30 days and $99.99 per year. A full access trial is available for $1 for two days of access.
As with any other VR site worth its salt Brazzers VR is compatible with Meta’s Quest and Rift headsets, the HTC Vive, and allows console access through Playstation VR. Smartphone access is available through Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream.
While many VR porn sites are available, the success of SexLikeReal in particular has shown the potential for highly-engaged VR porn users and community formation around the technology. Brazzers VR will be hoping for a slice of that pie, but will have to increase its library quickly if it is to keep up with the pack POVR, SexLikeReal and VRPorn.com each have more than 15,000 VR scenes available at the time of writing.
In all likelihood, this isn’t really an aim for the brand currently, given the disparity in catalog and features. What the launch will provide for Brazzers, however, is a tiny slice of the VR pie and more ways to try and upsell or provide value for the main ‘all-inclusive’ Brazzers subscription.
The potential for more mainstream adoption of VR porn could be aided by this month’s release of Meta’s new mixed reality headset, the Quest 3S. The model starts at $299.99 and is Meta’s cheapest headset yet, potentially helping to shift the financial barrier that prevents some porn users from taking a leap into VR.
