Why?

The WOW Tech group, makers of the Womanizer sextech device range, has won a $12.8 million counterclaim lawsuit against EIS Inc, makers of Satisfyer devices.

EIS Inc originally sued WOW Tech group, which includes the Novoluto company, in 2018 in Delaware on antitrust and unfair competition claims. EIS Inc claimed to be a market leader in sexual wellness products.

The popular Womanizer sextech range features devices with air-blowing technology for clitoral stimulation, such as the Womanizer Duo 2, released in early 2023. EIS Inc products such as the Satisfyer Pro 2 also feature air-blowing technology designed to stimulate the clitoris.

In WOW Tech’s counterclaim documents the company said that after its brand Novoluto filed for patents on some of its devices, the sextech industry “saw an influx of devices attempting to capitalize on the innovative technology disclosed”. WOW Tech named the Satisfyer Pro 2 plus the Satisfyer Pro G-Spot Rabbit as patent copycats.

A jury sided with WOW Group in a trial that ended last Friday (September 15, 2023), leading to $12.8 million being awarded to the countersuing company, reported Law.com.

“We’re grateful for the jury’s decisive ruling in favor of the WOW Tech group. This is a huge victory for our clients after a four-year fight. Our legal team appreciated the opportunity to help our clients prevail in protecting their intellectual property rights,” Tammy Terry, WOW Tech’s lead counsel, said.

The legal victory completes a two-hit punch in 2023 for Wow Tech, which merged with sextech retailer Lovehoney in 2021 to become Lovehoney Group. This summer WOW Tech won a $2.2 million default lawsuit against Lora DiCarlo, the now-defunct sextech company accused of ripping off WOW Tech’s brands.

With Lora DiCarlo seemingly disappearing off the face of the earth, and never responding to the lawsuit hence the default judgment, the chances of that payment being made are slim.

The Womanizer OG vibrator, one of Novoluto’s recent releases, has won glowing reviews, largely down to its ‘Pleasure Air Technology’.
