OK, someone buy us a cupcake. And then eat it yourself to punish us for missing our own one-year anniversary. The actual date would be May 22.
How embarrassing.
A quick recap
With a red face and admission now complete, it’s time to take a quick look back at what we’ve covered in the last year, and what our plans are for the future. Before that though, a picture of our traffic over 365 days.
But what’s driving that steady growth?
Well, you all really love porn, with our Android app roundups regularly among the most-read content on the site. A close second place is VR…and again, porn.
In our first few weeks, we hit the front page of Hacker News with an article musing on the future of sex robots. That early upward spike in the chart above? That was that article. The dip towards the end was the result of a redesign, which was then reversed with a lesson learned.
We’ve also had sometime contributions from Butros on topics like your phone ruining your relationship and games that can help you teach your teens sex-ed without embarrassing them, and the occasional opinion and news piece from Lea.
In total, around 50,000 of you read SexTechGuide.com each month, driving 150,000+ pageviews, and that’s awesome! We literally couldn’t be happier that you’re finding the site a useful place to find out about sextech.
The future?
The future is great, but there’s an awful lot of ‘now’ that still needs explaining for most people, and that’s really what we’re aiming to do.
First up, we’re bringing you more hardware reviews – so we’ll have new pieces on the MysteryVibe Crescendo and Fleshlight Launch in the coming days and weeks, and we’re also in the process of bringing on a new female contributor to help balance out the editorial voice of the site.
On top of that we’ll be bringing you a follow-up to our interview with Anna Bell Peaks from last year focused on VR, and we’re adding Katrina Jade (NSFW) into the mix too! And we’re hoping to make it along to the next sextech hackathon we can.
Oh, and we’re also thinking about the best way to implement a membership system for you all that’s worth your time. (Update: This has now launched in beta!)
Exciting times indeed and thank you once again for being a loyal STG reader! (Obligatory, ‘don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter if you don’t already‘ plug!)
Now, go read the good stuff.
