A dog toy shaped like a vibrator has gone on sale, designed to distract pooches from attempting to destroy any real vibrators that may be kept in their owner’s home.

According to Lioness, a US brand that makes smart vibrators and apps, this is a common problem. The firm said multiple customers reported that their dog had ripped apart their Lioness vibrator, which was selling for $229 in December 2021.

The solution, according to the company, is buying the $15 Lioness Dog Toy. The dog toy doesn’t pair with an app, like the real Lioness Vibrator, but does squeak when you squeeze it.  It’s also made from considerably softer material than the version for humans.

Lioness’ description of the dog toy makes us wonder if it would withstand rigorous canine attention much better than the product it mimics. The company warned customers that it is “not designed for heavy chewers”, and that dogs should not be allowed to play with it unsupervised.

The firm bolstered its pitch for the need for a dog toy shaped like a sex toy by publishing correspondence from customers who had seen their pet mutilate their vibrator. One customer mentioned their Lioness vibrator ending up as a “very expensive chew toy”.

Another said that the owner of a dog who destroyed their vibrator had refused to pay for the damage.

“It never occurred to me until this situation, how little men understand the importance of the relationship between a woman and her toy and why one might spend $200+ on a vibrator,” the customer was quoted as saying:

It’s heartening to hear that the solution to these vibrator-owners’ problem is finally available to purchase. But if you can’t stretch to the $15 price tag, you can always try keeping your sex toys on a slightly higher shelf.
