The company behind PromptAI has now added filters to the app which attempt to prevent the creation of NSFW AI images. If you want to create those, you would need to use Promptchan.ai instead, which doesn’t have a native mobile app.
The company says it is “designed as a girl generator with a focus on creative freedom within the boundaries of app store guidelines. Its primary purpose is not to generate explicit content.”
However, while obvious prompts are now blocked, it is still possible to create NSFW images, so clearly some refinement is still required.

PromptAI, an AI image generator that promises to “bring your ideal girl to life”, has launched on Apple’s App Store, despite the app being able to generate hardcore AI porn images with short text prompts.
Apple’s App Store rules forbid apps on the platform from featuring “overtly sexual or pornographic material”. However, on PromptAI, porn can be created seconds after downloading the app from the App Store, by typing simple prompts that generate the images in a few seconds.
The new app, which acts as a native mobile version of the web browser-based [NSFW] Promptchan.ai AI video and image generator, was available to download on November 20, 2023.
The images posted below, edited for decency outside the app after they were created, were made using PromptAI, which is free to download and use to create a limited number of images without registration – though you do need to sign in with your Apple ID to use the service. Subscriptions can be purchased to make more images and to remove ads from the app.
PromptAI has an age rating of 17+ in the App Store, and is listed as having “Infrequent/Mild Mature/Suggestive Themes”. Its addition to the store will raise questions about Apple’s app verification processes, and comes at a time when age verification rules are a hot topic in the online porn world.
In the UK the Online Safety Bill recently passed into law, and is set to make online platforms more responsible for the kind of content they host, and who can access it.
A PromptAI spokesperson told SEXTECHGUIDE that the app “is designed as a girl generator, with a focus on creative freedom within the boundaries of app store guidelines. Its primary purpose is not to generate explicit content.”
SEXTECHGUIDE has asked Apple how the app was approved for the App Store. We will update this article with any responses. The PromptAI spokesperson said the app has “undergone reviews” by the App Store and had “acquired approval from the App Store team.”
Apple says it bans apps featuring “explicit descriptions or displays of sexual organs or activities intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings”. That rule is very much out of the window with PromptAI, which can effortlessly create realistic hardcore images of naked AI characters showing off their genitals up close and personal.
Beyond Promptchan.AI, various AI porn image generators are available, but they tend to exist in web browsers rather than on app stores with supposedly strong rules about NSFW content. They include the likes of Seduced.AI, SoulGen and PornJourney, and exist in an area of evolving regulation.
We contacted PromptAI and Apple for comment ahead of publication, but had not received a response. If we do, we’ll update here.
