Why?

The Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset was released in the US on Friday (February 2, 2024), and since then people who bought the $3,499 device have been complaining that they can’t get VR porn to work on it properly.

Apple’s first mixed reality headset has won rave reviews for its high performance and hyper-realistic passthrough capabilities, leading to much anticipation that the release would usher in a new level of quality for VR porn. However, over the past few days buyers have said that they’ve only been able to access VR porn on the headset via complicated workarounds, with the results often marred with glitches and quality issues.

Some users have said that they don’t have any issues watching ‘flat’, non-VR porn videos on porn tube sites such as Pornhub. However, when trying to watch web-based VR porn, problems arise.

The issue may be related to the Apple Vision Pro struggling to play 180 degree side-by-side videos, which are often used for VR porn, and an application planning interface (API) called WebXR.

WebXR is used for many VR porn videos and, reports 404 Media, may be the crux of the Apple Vision Pro compatibility problem. The headset is supposed to support WebXR, but VR porn studios may not have optimized their videos for WebXR and Safari, because before the Apple Vision Pro’s release they would not have been watched on Safari in a headset by default.

VR porn can not be legitimately or easily watched through apps on the Apple Vision Pro because Apple bans porn apps on its App Store, and has cracked down on apps that allow access to porn.

Some people have shared information about VR porn workarounds for the headset, but none seem to offer a proper solution yet.

404 Media reported that enabling WebXR Device API, Enhance API, WebXR Augmented Reality Module and WebXR Gamepads Module on the headset allows some web VR porn videos to be shown, but has sometimes resulted in glitches and only a ‘flat’ version of the video being shown.

Others have speculated that a Safari/WebXR ‘fix’ may be introduced some time soon, that may address the issue. SEXTECHGUIDE has contacted Apple for comment, and will update this article with any response.

In the meantime, if you want to watch VR porn, the Apple Vision Pro might not be a few thousands dollars well spent for you.

Some erotic action is allowed on the Apple Vision Pro, however. Sextech company Lovense has launched functions on the company’s app that allows remote control of the brand’s sextech devices, that can be controlled by a Vision Pro headset wearer making hand gestures.
