The ‘point of view’ actor is wearing a full body chroma suit, leaving only their penis visible. This is made possible by passthrough, a feature in the latest update of the SLR app that merges VR and AR to bring the action right into your room.
Passthrough is all about rendering the ‘real world’ through a VR headset. It’s like having cameras film your surroundings and then streaming it straight to your goggles. In the context of VR porn, this means seeing a porn actor superimposed on your actual surroundings. While most VR headsets can handle Passthrough, the new Quest Pro is currently leading the pack, according to SLR.
The actor’s grey chromakey suit makes their body invisible to the headset wearer – only their penis, poking through the suit, is visible. If the filming is done in a gray room, all you see is the penis, the main ‘on screen’ porn actor, and your own surroundings from your point of view.

The company hasn’t shared its cleaning methods for the grey chroma suits, but it’s clearly making strides with VR porn tech updates. It recently launched its first VR porn sex toy ‘scripts’ written by AI, which syncs vibrations and movements with the on-screen action.
SexLikeReal is also exploring ways to remove backgrounds and torsos, so scenes won’t need to be shot in chromakey anymore. This will still deliver impressive immersive results. the company says, using passthrough. Later this year, it plans to showcase this feature on a 2D smartphone app.
The company is also introducing its new Alpha Channel feature. This tool separates the background image from the foreground with incredible detail, making passthrough ultra-lifelike and immersive. More scenes using the alpha channel function are on the horizon.
Users are finding their own ways to get the most out of this new function, largely through trial and error. Some suggest experimenting with the opacity and saturation levels to see what works best for you and your surroundings, then adjust other settings. Some users suggest that white backgrounds (walls, bed sheets, etc) work better than dark ones, as the white can act as a type of green screen.
As for compatibility, the Meta Quest Pro with stereoscopic color passthrough and Pico 4 with monoscopic color passthrough are the recommended headsets. The Quest 2 and Valve Index (monoscopic black and white passthrough) are also compatible. However, passthrough isn’t yet compatible with the Oculus Link cable on PC.
