Satisfyer has recently become the latest sexuality brand to enter the app-controlled toy space. The company has been churning out products at an astonishing rate over the past couple of years, some of them fantastic (hello, Flower Power!) and some of them decidedly mediocre (the entire line of multicoloured vibrators).
Now the firm joins the likes of We-Vibe, Lovense, and Lovehoney in its new venture selling app-controlled toys. Naturally, I couldn’t wait to try out the Satisfyer Curvy 1+, the first app-controlled Satisfyer product to grace my toybox.
Pleasingly, this is one app-compatible toy that doesn’t cost the earth either, priced around £45/€45 in Europe – it’s not yet on sale in the US though.
Satisfyer Curvy 1+: Design and functionality
The Curvy 1+ is one of the latest in Satisfyer’s line of pressure wave toys for people with vulvas. It utilises rapid pulses of air via a nozzle to deliver intense and “contactless” stimulation to the clitoris. Pressure wave toys were first popularised by Womanizer, and nearly all the major sex toy companies have now made at least one copycat product.
The Curvy 1+ came attractively packaged in a pink and blue box. The device is 5.3-inches long with the body of the toy displaying a gentle curve (hence the name). It comes in either white, or an attractive dark pinkish-red. The toy’s body is hard ABS plastic, and the nozzle is made of 100 percent body-safe silicone.
The Curvy 1+ is fully rechargeable via the included USB cable. Charging takes about two hours, and I got around 90 minutes of playtime out of a full charge. This product is also fully waterproof. Using a pressure wave clitoral stimulator in water can provide some very interesting sensations!
The Satisfyer Curvy 1+ also comes with an impressive 15-year guarantee, so you can buy with confidence.
Satisfyer Curvy 1+: Settings and speeds
The Satisfyer Curvy 1+ has both pressure wave and vibration stimulation options, and they can be controlled separately. The pressure waves offer 10 different levels of intensity, while there are 11 patterns of vibration (including three constant speeds.) Many more combinations are available via the app, which we’ll look at more closely in a minute.
The Curvy 1+ controls are simple and intuitive. The central button switches the toy on and off and also turns the pressure waves up. The top button (closest to the body when the toy is in use) turns the pressure waves down. The lowest button (furthest from the body in use) turns the vibrations on and off, and cycles through the patterns.
Satisfyer Curvy 1+: Experience
First, let’s talk about what worked well. This toy is ergonomically shaped and easy to hold. The slight upward curve makes it easy and comfortable to hold in position against the vulva and clitoris during use.
Satisfyer’s pressure wave toys are consistently great quality, and this product lives up to that reputation. The wide nozzle sits comfortably over the clitoral area, and the sucking sensation brought me to orgasm within minutes.
However, the nozzle is a little more rigid than many other suction style toys I’ve used. You’ll have a much better time if you use a generous slather of water-based lube with it.
What didn’t work so well? In short, the vibrations. The main complaint I’ve had with the vibrators Satisfyer has released is the weakness and buzzy quality of the vibrations. Unfortunately, the Curvy 1+ is no exception. The vibrations are weak, buzzy as hell, and make me numb within a couple of minutes. Without the pressure waves, the vibrations do less than nothing. When the two modes are used together, the vibrations detract from the pleasure of the pressure waves.
Companies making combo toys like this either need to start using good quality motors for the vibrating portion, or just not bother. I’ll definitely use this toy again, but the vibrate function will remain firmly off.
Satisfyer Curvy 1+: Satisfyer Connect Functions
The app functionality is the main thing that sets this product apart from the many pressure wave stimulators Satisfyer has released in recent years.
The Satisfyer Connect app is available on all Android and iOS devices. You can download it for free from your device’s app store.
Unlike many other toy apps I’ve tried, Satisfyer Connect does not require you to set up an account to use the toy in close-range mode. Simply pair your toy by opening the app, choosing “pair Satisfyer”, and holding down the central button on your toy until you feel a double pulse. The Satisfyer app’s connectivity is impressive – it pairs with the toy within seconds and retains a steady, reliable connection.
Once you’ve connected your toy to the app, you can choose from a number of inbuilt pulse and pattern settings, or create your own using the ‘My Programs’ option. You can then draw your own pattern with the swipe of a finger, or choose ‘Live control recording’ to control your toy’s settings and save the functions you choose. Using the ‘Community Share’ page, you can share your creations with others and download programs that other users have created, too.
In any of the settings and patterns, you can choose ‘Synced motors’ (the vibration and pressure waves do the same thing), or choose to control them separately.
You can also enjoy long-distance play from anywhere in the world as long as you have an internet connection by choosing the ‘Remote Partner’ tab. You’ll both need to create an account to use this function for security reasons. Once you’re both set up, simply search your partner by username and add each other. They can then control your toy from a distance.
The distance functionality is equally strong and reliable. We had no connection issues and found the the Curvy 1+ fast and responsive.
Other notable app functions include:
- ‘Music Vibes’ – sync your Satisfyer Curvy 1+ with music
- ‘Alarm’ – set your toy to come on at a certain time. Probably more useful for wearable devices than this one, but I’m sure there are plenty of creative uses for it!
- ‘Ambient Sound’ – use background noise picked up by your device’s microphone to create unique stimulation patterns.
The Satisfyer Connect app is fully GDPR-compliant and takes your privacy seriously. The app won’t even allow you to take screenshots for security reasons.
Satisfyer Curvy 1+: Is it Worth Buying?
Overall, a solid product. Despite the weakness of the vibrations, the Curvy 1+ is a great pressure wave clitoral stimulator, with added versatility and functionality made possible by a great app – and that’s not always a given for app-controlled toys.
It’s easy to use, has tons of options, and gives great orgasms – what’s not to love?
All in all, that makes the Satisfyer Curvy 1+ a welcome addition to the app-controlled sex toys market. Good work, Satisfyer.
