This month will see the launch of the sex-positive voice-chat audio app, Mōn, on Apple’s App Store, following a period of beta testing that resulted in a host of new features.

The Texas-based community app will function as a live voice-chat sharing experience to promote conversation, exploration, and education around sexualities. It’ll be home to expert-led panels and user-generated rooms for topics like self-love, relationships, fantasy and erotica, and sexual dysfunction.

Users can share voice notes either directly with a partner on the app or with the Mōn community in public rooms. It will also be a hub for live product reviews, a place to create audio porn by testing out your dirty talk, and sharing sexy stories, as well as live tantra groups and guided sexual experiences, among others.

The new features include real-time interactive reactions in the live rooms, an “Intimate Mode for confessionals with lower lighting”, as well as better moderation tools, Mōn told SEXTECHGUIDE.

With voice-chat becoming more popular since the start of 2020 (we all know why at this point), and voice-first apps like Clubhouse and SwoonMe grabbing headlines, the spaces profess to offer a more personable way to connect. As always with somewhat fledgling services, it’s hard to say if this is a vocal step forward for the sex-positive community, or whether it’ll be a flop, like the voice tweets that, thankfully, never really took off.

Unlike Twitter, Mōn actively aims to promote sex positivity, and “does not tolerate harassment, racism, homophobia, bigotry, and discrimination of any kind”, the company says. Unfortunately, there’s no precise date for the iOS release yet, and there’s no noise about an Android version in the works.
