A new subscription-based adult camming platform is set to launch, offering a high creator payout rate of 90 percent on tips and private performance fees, far surpassing some other cam sites.
LiveUnicorns [NSFW] bills itself as “the first subscription-based premium adult live cam platform”, and will have a subscription fee of $39.99 per month when it fully launches. The early-access price is $9.99 for the first month.
The platform remains in its “early access phase” until the end of 2021, as more adult content performers are individually onboarded. The site’s administrators said they were looking to sign up creators including live cam professionals, BDSM artists, cosplayers, gamer girls, sex educators and social media influencers.
By charging users a considerable monthly fee for site access, and having a site design that appears more premium (well, purple) and exclusive than rivals such as [NSFW links] Chaturbate and Bongacams, LiveUnicorns seems to be positioning itself as a high-end middle ground somewhere between Chaturbate-style cam sites and creator sites like OnlyFans.
Adult content creators using the new platform will not get a cut of the subscription fee income. LiveUnicorn says that charging this fee to users allows the site to take a small (just 10 percent) cut of creators’ tip and private show fees.
LiveUnicorns will have a function that allows users to watch previously-streamed videos from performers, and tip the creator as if they were live.
There is something of a gold rush occurring in the porn camming industry, with an influx of creators looking to make money from DIY live-stream shows as an alternative to more traditional, production house-led porn careers.
Adult content creator sites such as iFans, FanCentro and Blisss are vying for the attention of adult performers, following downturn in creator trust in OnlyFans following the site’s explicit content ban reversal.
Playboy is set to enter the adult creator market soon, with its new platform Centerfold. The heritage magazine brand signed up rapper Cardi B to be a creative director for the platform, not a million miles away from the move [NSFW] LiveJasmin made in signing up Pamela Anderson as an ambassador for its SFW site.
According to a study conducted by Indiana University’s Kinsey Institute, porn camming sites give most people who visit them “emotional support” and a “sense of emotional closeness”.
