German sextech brand Arcwave has built a solid reputation in the male pleasure category over the last few years, largely off the back of its Ion technology, which brought never-before-seen features to the stroker market.
Now Arcwave has launched the Perk – the brand’s latest entry into prostate massagers. While it takes an all-too-familiar L-shaped design, it adds a couple of thoughtful touches that help it stand out in what’s become a pretty competitive space.
The toy’s headline feature is a flexible hinge between the internal and external arms, which lets you adjust the angle to better fit your body. Pair that with some dual motors delivering deep, rumbly vibrations to both the prostate and perineum simultaneously, a wireless remote control and a price that undercuts many of Arcwave’s rivals, and the Perk looks like one to beat.
I’ve been testing the device over the past few weeks to see whether it delivers on its promises.
Arcwave Perk: Why use it?
Prostate massagers all tend to follow the same formula, serving up an insertable arm for internal stimulation, an external arm for the perineum and a set of vibration modes to cycle through. The Perk is no different, so doesn’t reinvent the wheel here. But what it does do is execute the basics really well while adding a couple of extra features that make a difference in practice.
The adjustable hinge is the Perk’s main selling point, though. Unlike rigid massagers, where you’re stuck with whatever angle the manufacturer decided on, the Perk lets you tweak the position of the two arms to find what actually works for your anatomy. This matters more than it sounds, because everyone is built slightly differently. Being able to fine tune the angle means you’re far more likely to hit the right spot without having to constantly reposition it.
The dual-motor setup is the other big draw. Rather than relying on a single motor to do everything, the Perk has one in each arm, delivering simultaneous stimulation to both the prostate and perineum. The vibrations are deep and rumbly rather than buzzy and surface-level, which makes for a more satisfying and less numbing experience overall.
Arcwave Perk: Design
As mentioned earlier, the Perk follows the classic L-shaped prostate massager design, with a 4.25-inch total length (3.6 inches insertable) on the internal arm and a 4-inch external arm for perineum stimulation. It’s made from body-safe silicone that feels smooth, soft and reassuringly high-quality in both the hand and, well, you know where. Nothing about it feels cheap or plasticky, which is always a good sign with something you’re going to be using intimately.
The insertable arm features a gently tapered, bulbous tip that measures 3.8 inches at its widest point, which then tapers down to around two inches at the neck. It’s this shape that makes insertion super comfortable, even for those relatively new to prostate play. The narrower neck helps with that also, as it sits more comfortably during longer sessions without that constant feeling of being stretched. As for the adjustable hinge I mentioned earlier, this sits where the two arms meet, ensuring it holds position well once you’ve found the right angle, without it slipping back.
Controls are straightforward to use, too, with the Perk sporting a large button on the base that not only powers the device on, but cycles through 10 vibration patterns across 10 intensity levels. I should also mention that the Perk is fully waterproof and USB rechargeable, with a quoted 120-minute battery life and takes around 90 minutes to charge. That’s a pretty generous runtime that should comfortably cover most sessions without worry you’ll run out of juice partway through.
Arcwave Perk: What it’s like in use
Getting set up and started with the Perk is super straightforward. Just ensure you’ve applied plenty of water-based lube (more than you think you need), and the tapered tip makes sure insertion is really smooth and comfortable. Once in position, a quick press of the main button fires up the motors, and you’re on your way.
The first thing you’ll notice is how powerful it feels. For a device at this price point, the vibrations are surprisingly deep and rumbly, which is exactly what you want for prostate stimulation. And since both motors work independently, the stimulation you get at the prostate and perineum at the same time really makes a difference. When you find the right pattern and intensity level, the combination can feel pretty intense, and only in a good way. But note that you can’t control the motors individually.
The 10 vibration patterns offer a good range, from steady continuous vibrations to pulsing, escalating and random modes. The intensity levels build up gradually, too, rather than jumping straight from gentle to full power, which is a nice touch.
As for the bundled remote control – this works well for hands-free use, letting you change patterns or intensity without reaching for the device itself, but, for me, I did find it needed to be relatively close to the massager to work properly.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Perk is impressively quiet, even at higher intensities, which is a bonus if you like to keep things discreet. Cleaning the Perk is nice and simple too, thanks to its waterproof silicone construction that holds an IPX7 rating. All it needs is a rinse with warm, soapy water after each use. Just be aware that the remote is, understandably, only splashproof with an IPX4 rating.
Arcwave Perk: Is it worth buying?
At £99.99 / $119, the Arcwave Perk isn’t the cheapest prostate massager out there (Lovehoney’s own-brand options start from about £20), but it’s significantly less than super premium alternatives from the likes of Lelo and MysteryVibe, which can come in at around £200 or more.
For the money, you’re getting dual motors with powerful vibrations, an adjustable design that adapts to your body, a wireless remote, waterproof construction and a solid two-hour battery life. That’s a lot of box-ticking for a device in the £100 / $120 range.
If you’re new to prostate play, the Perk’s tapered shape and adjustable angle make it a comfortable and non-intimidating option to get started with. Equally, if you’re more experienced, the motor power and vibration variety should still impress. The only real gap is the lack of app connectivity, which more expensive rivals offer, but for most people, the remote control covers the same ground without the faff of downloading yet another app.
Verdict: A well-built, powerful prostate massager that gets the fundamentals right
The Arcwave Perk doesn’t try to reinvent the prostate massager by any means, but it does the essentials well – thanks to its powerful dual motors, a comfortable and adjustable design and a build quality that feels like it should cost more than it does. The vibrations are deep and satisfying rather than cheap and buzzy, and the adjustable hinge is a small but genuinely useful feature that helps you find the right angle for your body.
Still, it’s not perfect. The remote range could be better, there’s no app connectivity but, at this price, the Perk offers excellent value and is easy to recommend for both newcomers and those looking to upgrade from a basic model.
