Why?

AI might be about to sweep away most of our jobs and livelihoods, but being a self-employed porn creator is a profession that could be greatly aided by the rise of the chatbots.

Anticipating this, porn creator site JustFor.fans (JFF) has launched an AI tool in beta mode that helps creators on the platform write their biographies and profile descriptions. It’s available on the JFF Exclusive tier, and can be used to spice up copy.

Dominic Ford, founder of JFF, said that creators could type a prompt such as: “Make the following more erotic and interesting, and write two paragraphs: ‘I met a guy at the gym and followed him into the shower’.” The AI system will then, according to Ford, generate a “better version”, with the aim of increasing conversation rates and followers.

Many porn creators make a significant chunk of their income from paid-for private messages with fans, so the potential benefits of this kind of technology for this is obvious, both in terms of saving time and creating spicier copy. Ethical questions could be raised about whether it’s right to charge a fan to chat to a prompted AI chatbot, when they’re paying to chat to a human.

Creators might also benefit from AI chatbots like JFF’s being integrated into their creator platform, because most of the best mainstream AI chatbots are programmed to not allow the creation of erotic content. Ask GPT-4 to spice up a paragraph about following someone into the shower, and you’re probably more likely to get something plumbing-related than an erotic yarn.

The technology raises the prospect of massively increased, AI-assisted creator chat output. Recently influencer Caryn Marjorie created an AI version of herself called CarynAI, and has reportedly made huge amounts of money by charging fans $1 a minute to chat to her digital alter ego.

“At our user conference, many models said they weren’t creative enough to write exciting copy in their posts. It’s possible that using AI might help them. AI is definitely the future, and figuring out how best to harness it is an ongoing and experimental process we fully embrace,” Ford said.
