What is believed to be the first augmented reality (AR) porn passthrough game designed for Meta’s forthcoming Quest Pro headset has been gaining traction online.
Footage from a forthcoming Quest Pro update for the sexually explicit game, called Pass Thru Hot Sauce, was [NSFW] posted on Reddit last week by a user named Ritual-Vitality, prompting commenters to say that they hoped the game marked “just the beginning” of AR porn games for the next generation of AR and virtual reality (VR) headsets.
The game, highlighted outside Reddit by Immersive Porn, launched in early 2022 on Itch.io and has been regularly updated since. It features nine stripper characters – seven female, two male – with selectable skins, each capable of 26 poses and animations.
News of a Quest Pro update for Pass Thru Hot Sauce, for use with Meta’s much-hyped forthcoming high-end headset, led to hopes for a new dawn of AR porn gaming.
The game’s maker said that the new use of color in the update “changes everything”. They said the Quest Pro update would be available free for owners of the game when it is released. The Quest Pro headset is expected to be announced in October 2022.
Although the demo of the update impressed Reddit users, the visuals don’t exactly look like they’ll usher in a new age of hyper-realistic AR porn. The 3D human characters look well-rendered but are far from anything that could be confused for a real person.
“The girls are a little crude of course, but this is just the beginning. Impressive for me is the realistic placement of the girls,” one commenter wrote. There is definitely an appetite for this already… by the end of next year, there will be millions of VR headsets with high-resolution color passthrough,” they added.
Clearly, there’s a growing interest in placing virtual porn performers in real-world locations. Earlier this year, also on Reddit, instructions were posted on how to achieve an AR-like porn experience using a Quest 2 headset.
