A talking AI companion robot that costs nearly $90,000, that has moving arms and legs but can’t walk independently, has been released and is touted as the “next generation in robotic companionship”, but keep your thoughts clean, as there’s no ‘sexbot’ options available here.
The [NSFW] X04-SYNC2 is being sold for £64,700 ($88,600) by the UK-based Cloud Companion sex robot and doll retail company.
The robot has impressive-looking limb movement ability, and uses ChatGPT for its language function, but is not designed for sex. It has a human-like head, but below the chin its body appearance is very much metallic and synthetic, and does not have defined genitals. It’s designed to be fully clothed, so it resembles a human.

Cloud Climax admitted that achieving a “truly human-like experience in appearance, movement, and behaviour” in sex robots will probably require “decades of further innovation across AI, robotics, and materials science”.
Nevertheless, the X04-SYNC2 has created a bit of an online kerfuffle, perhaps largely due to its premium price point. The robot is listed as being available as either a male or female model, although only the female version seems to be depicted in promotional materials. Various head styles are available, and you can pay more to have a custom head.
The X04-SYNC2 uses ChatGPT to power its conversational ability, and can speak in eight languages including English, Chinese, Russian and Korean. It has movable points on its face, including its mouth, plus eyes that can blink and are equipped with micro cameras for retina tracking.

The robot requires a wifi connection to function, and can be controlled with a dedicated phone app. The X04-SYNC2 self-updates through the internet connection.
In promotional videos on the robot’s retail product page, its limb movements seem dynamic and human-like. Its waist can also move. The robot cannot walk, but can be made mobile with the separate purchase of a mobile chassis it can stand on.
These days many sex and companion robots are in reality little more than AI-enabled robot heads stuck onto life-size doll bodies. In 2024 the founder of RealDoll, perhaps the most well-known sex robot company in the Western world, said that the firm had “no immediate plans to create robotic bodies to be used as sex robots”, and was instead focusing on selling companion robot head units.

A Cloud Climax spokesperson told The Sun: “We are still quite far from developing sex dolls or robots that are truly indistinguishable from humans… although facial expressions and basic gestures have improved, achieving natural, fluid body movements and fine motor skills remains a significant challenge.”
The spokesperson added: “On the cognitive side, while AI has advanced in natural language processing, current systems still lack true emotional intelligence, deep contextual understanding, and the ability to adapt seamlessly to social cues.”
Earlier this year it was announced that a walking, talking companion robot called ElizaWakesUp would be released in 2025. The robot, which like X04-SYNC2 has a metallic body with a human-like head, has a price tag of $420,000.
Preview images and video of ElizaWakesUp seemed to be computer-generated, leading to commenters doubting that the robot was real. The robot’s makers claimed that footage of its production would be released soon.
