Mac and PC games distribution platform Good Old Games (GOG) has said it is “taking a stand” against the “quiet erasure” of games, following Steam and Itch.io removing some NSFW adult games from their platforms.

Recently Steam purged a slew of NSFW adult games that featured extreme themes such as incest, and Itch.io temporarily removed all NSFW adult games from its platform so it could audit them. The removals came following pressure on games platforms to comply with content rules from credit card companies.

Many financial organizations and credit card companies have rules about their payments not being linked to explicit content, and have cut ties with major porn sites. Earlier in 2025 a group of sexual exploitation activists wrote an open letter to credit card company bosses, asking them to cut ties with games platforms that host extreme adult NSFW content.

GOG is a games distribution platform that focuses on hosting and maintaining older, ‘classic’ games. On Friday GOG said it was speaking out against the removal of legal games being removed from platforms “because someone decided they shouldn’t exist”.

“As an archival platform dedicated to protecting gaming history, we believe that if a game is legal and responsibly made, players should be able to enjoy it today – and decades from now,” GOG said. It added that it was “taking a stand against the quiet erasure of creative works from digital shelves.”

Leap Of Love

GOG launched a new website, Freedomtobuy.games, that briefly made 13 adult games available to download free, a move the platform said was made with the support of the games’ developers and publishers.

The games included Postal 2, a violent first-person shooter game released in 2003, that has been banned in countries including New Zealand and removed from some games platforms in countries including Germany.

Also included on the free games list was Leap Of Love (pictured above): an animated game featuring a prince on a quest involving a bevy of extremely large-breasted women. Fetish Locator Week One (pictured below) was another game on the list.

Payments for games on GOG can be made with credit cards and systems such as PayPal, which are linked to credit cards.

Itch.io relisted its free NSFW adult games last week, and has said it will “slowly” bring back paid games in this category that comply with its rules. The platform has said that it will be implementing new content warnings.
