Why?

We-Vibe has released an upgraded version of its popular Melt clitoris stimulator device, introducing pre-set suction patterns and a new Smart Silence feature for more discreet use.

The new Melt 2 sells for $149 and enters a clit-focused sextech market that’s far more crowded than it was in 2019, when the original Melt launched.

Like the original Melt, the Melt 2 uses rapid pulses of air rather than traditional vibrations to stimulate the clitoris, and can be used without the device having direct contact with the body. We-Vibe calls this air pressure tech ‘Pleasure Air Technology’.

Unlike the Melt, however, the new version also comes with preset suction patterns that come in six modes, each with 12 different intensity levels, which can be activated by pressing buttons on the device. For the original Melt, you have to set up and use varied suction patterns using the We-Vibe app and a smartphone paired with the device, which some people found less than ideal, if their phone wasn’t to-hand.

For the Melt 2, suction modes more sophisticated and customizable than those in the preset patterns can be accessed using the We-Vibe app. These include ‘Beat Mode’, which syncs the suction movements of the device to a song on your phone. Another is ‘Multi Vibe’, which allows you to create your own short suction pattern or pick one from a ‘vibe gallery’.

The new optional Smart Silence feature uses sensor technology to only turn on the device’s air pulses when the device is touching a surface such as skin or clothes over skin. This is activated by pressing a button on the device, and is designed to be used when you want to keep the sound level of the device as low as possible.

The Melt 2 comes in purple and sage color options. Early reports have suggested that it gives a ‘deeper’, more rumbly suction sensation than the original Melt, and makes a higher-pitched sound. As ever, we’ll be saving any judgement of such features until we’ve had a chance to review it.

Suction-based and clit-focused sextech devices have become far more popular in recent years, thanks in part to the Melt and also the Womanizer brand, which moved into clit-focused products early.

In 2018 Womanizer merged with We-Vibe to form the WOW Tech Group, hence you see Pleasure Air Technology across both brands. In 2021 WOW Tech Group merged with the UK company Lovehoney, to form what the new enterprise claimed was the “world’s largest sexual wellness company”.

Earlier in 2025 Womanizer released the Enhance: a device that combines Pleasure Air Technology and more traditional, rumbly vibrations.
