Augmented reality (AR) porn fans have discovered a hack that allows you to watch VR porn on an Oculus Quest 2 headset in a way that virtually places the performer in your real-world surroundings.
AR tends to be a more interactive experience than virtual reality (VR), allowing you to see what is in front of you in the real world, as well as any virtual creations merged into your vision. VR allows you to see a completely virtual world through your headset.
While there’s a relatively large number of adult VR games and virtual reality porn sites, XXX augmented reality content is considerably harder to find – with the exception of Naughty America’s relaunched RealGirlsNow [NSFW link] site. However, eager-eyed virtual porn fans shared information about an AR “revelation” they discovered by mistake while watching VR porn.
User BlindMansGuff on Reddit found that if you set your Quest 2’s station boundary setting so it is defined just behind you when you’re in a seated position, then choose to watch a VR porn video that has a dark background, then lean back, you can see the porn model in what feels like an AR experience. BlindMansGuff suggests that DarkRoomVR [NSFW link] is ideally suited, as it frequently uses dark backgrounds for its porn scenes.
AR porn fans lauded the AR porn passthrough discovery on Reddit, with one person writing: “Seriously it is a revelation seeing your surrounding (dick and all) while having some straight up triple A quality porn star in your bedroom.
Another wrote: “The small opening gap for the nose is also a good feature of the headset! Zuck [Meta box Mark Zuckerberg] thought of everything.”
Indeed, it’s not the first time the workaround has been discussed on Reddit, surfacing first at the start of 2022, but there’s been no official movement from Oculus on supporting pass-through experiences in that time, despite the announcement of a passthrough project nearly a year ago.
