The seventh International Congress on Love and Sex with Robots, which brings together academics in the field of sex and companionship robots (plus some non-academic sex robot admirers), is set to take place as an online event from November 18-20, 2022.

The last time the event, launched by David Levy, author of the 2007 book Love and Sex With Robots, took place as an ‘in-person’ conference was in 2019. In 2020 and 2021 it took place as a virtual event due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, and will continue as an online conference for its seventh incarnation.

Dr Kate Devlin, the highly-respected artificial intelligence and sex robot expert from King’s College London, is set to be one of the event’s keynote speakers in 2022. Others include Justin Lehmiller, social psychologist and research fellow at the Kinsey Institute, and Dr Jessica Sczcuka, a social psychologist at University Duisberg-Essen.

Beyond the academic world sex robot advocates, known as ‘iDollators’, will be represented among the keynote speakers by Regulo Guzman Jr, known as Reggie.

In 2021, Levy told SEXTECHGUIDE that the Love and Sex With Robots conference transitioned well from being an in-person event to being primarily online.

“All you really need is video, PowerPoints and the lecturer talking, and that’s relatively straightforward to convert. But for some other events, when you’re dealing with things like robots and physical entities, you would want to be able to see and feel and touch. Physical elements are still going to be important,” he said.

He added: “But people can see images of robots. The main point of our event is an exchange of knowledge and latest developments from latest ideas.”
