Zhongshan Jinsan Mannequin Co (AKA Jinsan Doll), the parent company of the WM Doll sex doll and fledgling robot company, has launched its new AI function allowing you to have developing conversations with a sex robot.

The AI function, named MetaBox, is based on a large language model (LLM) connected to a global server network. The AI is connected to a chip, microphone and speaker system in the robot’s head.

It’s relatively common for sex doll and robot manufacturers to have some sort of AI chatbot function powering a robot’s speech, but the launch of the MetaBox by one of the world’s most prominent sex robot companies suggests confidence that customers are after companionship functions, as well as just a realistic robot body for physical fun.

MetaBox dolls have six different personality types, each with specific career paths as well as personality traits.

They are: Claire (“gentle teacher”), Bella (“youthful student”), Diana (“powerful superhero”), Emma (“professional secretary”), Amy (“caring nurse”) and Lena (“strong-willed police officer”).

Only female MetaBox models are currently available. Speaking of male versions one day being available AllYourDolls, one of the retail companies that sells and promotes Jinsan Doll products says “that day will come”.

MetaBox is capable of holding conversations with a human, and can be set to “sensual dialogue” and “moaning” modes when users want to move the talk on from small talk. A promotional video for MetaBox, featuring a sex robot called Claire, showed that it’s capable of remembering conversations details.

In the video, Claire talks to a man and remembers that he mentioned that he said he was feeling ill. Her AI-equipped head also makes various promises that her silica body may not be able to deliver, such as offering to bring him soup and medicine, and to play golf with him.

“I don’t want to look like a slut in front of you,” Claire says, when considering what to wear. “I was thinking of wearing something sexy and revealing… I especially like to look good for you.”

People having an engaging conversation in a trendy bar setting, showcasing social interaction and modern nightlife ambiance.

The conversation, even in the edited promotional video, is slightly stilted, although Claire manages to keep up with the general ebbs, flows and directions of the chat.

MetaBox is compatible with other Jinsan Doll brands, which as well as WM Doll, include AngelKiss and GalateaDoll, and tend to be 150 centimeters in height, or taller. MetaBox cannot, however, be paired with the ‘breathing chest’ function that some of the dolls have.

Jinsan has said that after one year of free use, there will be an annual fee (currently between $100-$200 per year) to continue using the AI service.

Jinsan Doll brands tend to refer to their humanoid products as dolls rather than robots, although many, such as those equipped with MetaBox, do have robotic elements.

Don’t get too excited

Recently the founder of the US-based RealDoll sex robot brand told SEXTECHGUIDE that his main company, Realbotix, is producing robotic heads with “intimate friendship” AI capabilities.

However, McMullen suggested that current ‘sex robots’ currently tend to be robotic heads on sex doll bodies, rather than truly, fully robotic models, and that full-on sex robots were still years away.
