One of the more empowering aspects of the sex industry has been the rise of performers taking control of their own destiny, through production and distribution of their own content. For many, this would be via a platform like OnlyFans, but the dutch duo behind XtraSexyReality have cut out the middlemen and launched their own site, aimed at delivering “interactive, authentic & embodied VR porn” and offering explicit VR experiences designed to help you up your bedroom game.
The videos are performed and coded by Dutch sex worker and activist Tamar, and Ninja, a self-described “sex-positive VR game developer” and neuroscience graduate. The real-life partners are self-confessed exhibitionists and have no taboos about full and explicit demonstrations to aid your sex education. There are both VR and desktop versions, so you don’t necessarily need a virtual reality headset.
“I think by being both the coders and the actors we are breaking a lot of stereotypes about sex work, and even around women in tech. For us, the value is that we can create the exact product that we want and have complete autonomy,” Ninja explained to SEXTECHGUIDE. “We can actually be totally authentic with the content because a lot of the other web sites that claim to be authentic actually have a lot of guidelines when you shoot porn for them.”
XtraSexyReality’s VR hip movement training
The latest project is a video which uses light trails in the user’s field of vision, which allows them to better replicate the hip actions they’re demonstrating, designed to bring greater pleasure to your partner. It’s been built using a Qoocam 360/180 VR camera, with the trails rendered using the Unity game engine.
By watching the trails you create with your movements, it’s a lot easier to match the models’ speed, rhythm and shape, all ready to try on your real-life partner.
A recent ‘PG13’ stream on Twitch shows the concepts used, as well as explaining how the couple designed and perfected both the technique itself and the ‘trails’ it uses to guide you. It’s linked at the bottom of this page.
“The trails in the app were pretty simple to make the main challenge was to get their length and time to fade right,” Ninja added. “If the time was too long the whole app filled with trails and you couldn’t see the video, and if the time was too short it didn’t give enough feedback.”
The idea here is not to simulate a sexual encounter with the actors, but rather receive a masterclass in snake-hips from two sex workers who know what they’re talking about – a fact that becomes clear as you see them engage in some proper hardcore demonstrations.
Other subjects in the series include videos on respecting boundaries and consent and practical demonstrations of fisting.
But it’s not all plain sailing. As ever, being in the adult industry has some pretty unique problems, as Ninja explained:
“The main challenges we have been dealing with are the hardships around being an adult content provider, anything from hosting websites to being allowed to process credit cards is so much harder than any other business.”
The idea for the hip movement masterclass came from Ninja’s own desire to make her own (and their) sex life better, by improving the movements of her partners.
“My background is in neuroscience and VR, for my masters I was researching how I can use VR to teach movement and strengthen the connection between the brain and the body,” Ninja said. “One day at a movement class my ‘movement guru’ Shira Yaziv told us to imagine our movements created trails. I realized I could easily do this in VR and that the visual feedback would help the brain learn faster.”
And apparently, learning to move your hips more freely isn’t a long-term commitment – you might well see results immediately.
“When I tested this on one of my partners his clunky hip movements turned to smooth and coordinated movements within around three minutes, so I believe this can work for many other people,” Ninja told us. “Since so many people learn about sex from porn we wanted to create something that would actually improve peoples sex lives.”
