Why?

The virtual women in VR sex game [NSFW] VR HOT have started talking, with the game integrating AI chatbot and voice functionality.

VR HOT is a (highly-explicit) VR porn game that allows you to virtually have sex with various digital characters, and can be synched with sex toys for a more immersive experience. With the game’s makers integrating an AI chatbot, there’s now potential for deeper relationships to be forged.

Previously you could interact with the game’s characters by giving them voice commands, but full conversation is now possible with the AI upgrade and the game using voice technology. VR HOT told SEXTECHGUIDE that the company hired voice actors to record dialogue then used the recordings to train a large language model (LLM) AI chatbot. The company would not reveal which LLM they used but said it was not ChatGPT.

Flo Wrist, CCO of VR HOT, said: “We see VR HOT as an intimacy simulator. Intimacy requires a variety of elements, and communication stands out as one of the most important ones. VR HOT is not intended to be just a game; our goal is to create an immersive experience that truly replicates interactions with a real person.”

Examples of the AI voice functionality online show the characters chatting about anything from their favorite Lord of the Rings characters, to their parents’ occupations (they’d be so proud). The company said that characters can also speak sexually explicitly.

Currently only female characters in the game have this vocal ability, although VR HOT is working on getting male characters to speak too.

While VR sex games such as VR HOT are relatively common, few have successfully integrated full conversational audible chat functionality with the use of AI chatbots such as ChatGPT. While deep conversation might not be the top priority for many players of such games, if the goal is realism, it could certainly help.

Gaming YouTuber Rob Cram reviewed VR HOT’s AI chat capabilities by having chats with various characters in the game. He noted that conversations can be a bit slow, and that characters have a tendency to suddenly turn conversations “dark”.

He did, however, note its potential, saying: “I think you can also exhibit a mutual respect because she is no longer just a sexual object, but someone with feelings that you relate to more because you’re the one asking the questions and she is responding.”

With VR HOT being primarily a sex game, Cram noted that this inevitably creates an unrealistic dynamic to the conversations. “It’s interesting because at the end of the day, despite the interactions you see here, at the snap of the fingers (or with a simple voice command) you and her can be vigorously going at it,” he wrote.

Wrist said: “We believe AI chat will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the gaming industry. The ChatGPT mod for [RPG video game] Skyrim has already demonstrated its potential, and we are convinced that this technology will open the doors to a whole new dimension of gaming in general.”
