AI companions, immersive sextech and virtual influencers are set to be discussed on a forum at the Dublin Tech Summit convention, taking place in the Irish capital on May 29-30, 2024.

The event is set to take place at the Dublin Tech Summit convention center and organizers expect to attract over 8,000 visitors. Somewhat inevitably for a tech conference in 2024, AI is dominating the agenda for talks, forums and events over the two-day meeting.

On the second day of the conference, May 30, a four-person panel discussion called Romantic AI, Virtual Influencers, & Immersive SexTech will take place. Organizers said the panelists will discuss “the evolution of dating sites featuring AI-generated romantic companions, the phenomenon of virtual influencers captivating audiences worldwide, and the latest advancements in immersive sextech experiences.”

They added that the panel will also discuss “the ethical implications to envisioning the future of human-technology relationships”.

The panel will feature Pavel Hegai, CEO and founder of the AI companion app Romantic AI, plus Christopher Travers, founder of product incubator Travers Tech. Dr Lillie Mancey, programme director at the Dublin-based UCD Innovation Academy, and Ola Miedzynska, founder of the Sxtech EU conference, complete the line-up.

Romantic AI chatbots have risen in popularity over the past few years, in tandem with fast development and adoption of AI chatbot technology. Many users have forged strong emotional bonds with AI characters on apps and services such as Replika and Eva AI, while many human influencers have created AI versions of themselves, that can interact (i.e. earn money from) fans online.

Entirely AI-created virtual influencers, usually in the form of large-breasted AI women, have also become more prominent recently. Creator agencies have produced these virtual models, many of which have garnered large social media followings, with a view to securing brand endorsements or sometimes linking to more explicit paid-for images, also created by AI.

All topics ripe for discussion, but with final stage tickets for the Dublin Tech Summit costing from €535.05 ($580), the event is perhaps not one for the casual observer.
