The era of 16K resolution VR porn content is approaching, with production companies teasing the introduction of super-resolution porn for high-end and “next generation” headsets.
SexLikeReal (SLR), one of the most popular VR porn sites and production companies, says it has already started making 16K resolution content, and that it would be released “very soon”. VRBangers, another popular VR porn site, said that its 16K content is coming “soon”.
Currently VR porn scene resolution—the amount of pixels visible through a headset— tends to top out at 8K on VR porn sites and apps – though some do occasionally release 12K scenes, they aren’t the norm. 8K resolution usually means that each one of the headset-wearer’s eyes view around 4,000 pixels, combining to around 8,000 in total.
SLR says that its new, higher-resolution content would “surpass any VR porn ever filmed before”, showing around 8,000 pixels for each eye view. The company added that it would offer “intimacy and realism that simply wasn’t possible before”.
Neither [NSFW links] SLR nor VRBangers have said exactly when they will start releasing 16K resolution VR porn, but when it’s released it will only work with some high-end headsets. Recently-launched top-end headsets such as the Apple Vision Pro are designed for 16K resolution content, but cheaper headsets such as Meta’s Quest 3S, launched in late 2024, are not compatible with it.
16K resolution-ready headsets will eventually become the norm, even among cheaper models, and by launching 16K content soon VR porn studios will be future-proofing themselves for the industry’s next steps.
SLR promised “crystal-clear detail” from the 16K resolution scenes, with Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive cameras (pictured above) used to shoot them. The $30,000 camera was designed to shoot content for the Apple Vision Pro, too.
SLR says that the Blackmagic camera has dual ultra-wide lenses that “capture the curves, closeness, and space exactly as your eyes would see it”. The company claimed that the camera’s “massive dynamic range means warm skin tones, vivid outfits, and natural shadows that pull you in.”
Earlier in 2025 SLR announced that it was creating VR porn videos with six degrees of freedom (6DoF), allowing you to make movements such as walking and leaning when watching VR porn content.
