We-Vibe has launched a new 35mm vibrating ring, called Bond, that can be adjusted in size, and that can be controlled remotely via the We-Vibe app.
Coming as a slight update on a previous We-Vibe ring, the Verge, the $129 Bond is marketed towards couples looking for ways to explore more public displays of affection, with phrases like “the bond between sexual partners,” and “the importance of curious, adventurous intimacy.” Regardless of this, it can, of course, also be used alone.
The extendable ring can be worn discreetly under clothing over the penis and balls, and it allows for a partner to control it from anywhere in the world, via the We-Connect app. There’s also a handheld control, for anyone that doesn’t need to use an app every time they use the toy, and buttons on the device itself, so control shouldn’t be an issue.
It’s also IPX7 waterproof, allowing for fun in the shower or bath (or swimming pool, if life is going well enough for you to have a private pool in your home) and is described by the company as ‘whisper-quiet’, though we’ll have to wait and see until our review is ready to validate that claim.
Getting over the past
In 2017, the company paid $3 million dollars to settle a data protection breach when sued for “snooping on users vibrator usage”. Nonetheless, We-Vibe seems to have regained the trust of its customers — at least, to some degree. Part of this resilience is likely attributable to the wide range of couples vibrators that it offers, including the wearable Sync device, the Bloom, Vector, and a powerful adaptation of the traditional Wand.
Nevertheless, some of its recent products have fared less well in our reviews, notably the Wish being let down by slightly awkward controls, and the Melt struggling a little with suction.
Comparing it to other stimulation-rings on the sex tech market, such as the Ohmibod Nex 3, Lovense Diamo, Hot Octopuss Atom Plus Lux, and MysteryVibe Tenuto, it will be interesting to review the Bond’s unique ‘Custom Fit’ feature.
