A new phone and tablet-only interactive augmented reality (AR) sex experience called EnjoyMeNow has launched, offering a ‘minimal click’ alternative to interactive headset AR porn.

EnjoyMeNow lets you interact with fictional CGI porn performers in AR, with the characters responding to your hand movements. The perspective of the experience is similar to that of first-person VR experiences, with AR creating the impression that you’re having sex with the character.

There are plenty of interactive sex and porn games and experiences like this available, but EnjoyMeNow is attempting to carve a niche by being designed for phone use and being accessed only via a browser. This means that no apps, downloads or account signups are required, which are steps that sometimes put off potential users.

For the AR experience, EnjoyMeNow utilises your phone’s camera as you point it forward from a sitting or lying position. Your chosen CGI character then clambers and thrusts all over your body, or at least appears to through the screen. You move your hand to get the character to respond, and can reset their positioning by pressing a screen button.

As well as a simulated sex mode called Virtual Sex, there’s a Private Show mode that sees the character pleasure themselves in AR.

There are trans and male characters available too, which is worth noting, as AR and VR porn remain stubbornly fixated on the cis male gaze, and any divergence from that default is still rarer than it should be.

Browser-only AR porn

VR porn platforms are investing more in AR experiences that mainly require headset use, so a ‘simple-click’ phone alternative could have legs. Using purely fictional CGI characters rather than renders of real people (which some AR porn platforms do use) nudges EnjoyMeNow closer to the adult gaming category than the porn one. That’s almost certainly a deliberate positioning choice as much as a technical one. Payment processors and platform regulations treat adult gaming differently from porn, and companies navigating that landscape know it. Whether it actually insulates DCBC Group from those pressures in practice is a different question.

This new AR experience may be billing itself as innovating by being both phone and browser-focused, but other interactive adult content sites and platforms are edging towards browser-only experiences as newer device technology becomes better at handling the high demands of browser-only content.

The friction argument isn’t new. As we noted when ARConk launched as a dedicated app, the download-and-install step alone sheds a significant chunk of potential users, and that’s before you get to the account creation screen. Dreamcam made the same browser-access play for VR passthrough porn, going straight to 6K resolution via WebXR, a standard that lets browsers handle immersive 3D content without a dedicated app. The difference is that Dreamcam was targeting headset users; EnjoyMeNow is going after everyone who’s never bought a headset and probably won’t.

The idea is that the quicker and easier you make it to access AR/passthrough porn, the more likely users are to bother engaging with it. For many, downloading a dedicated AR/VR porn app is a mental or logistical hurdle they can’t be bothered to leap over.

Browser-only experiences could also potentially help allay privacy concerns. EnjoyMeNow says that camera and motion processing for the experiences is run locally on the phone (or tablet), with no cloud processing or recording. DCBC Group, which makes EnjoyMeNow, says that adult content is automatically purged from a browser when the experience’s tab is closed.

With EnjoyMeNow being available so quickly and easily on a phone, it’ll be interesting to see if newly streamlined experiences like this do help usher in new swathes of users.

You can use EnjoyMeNow for short trial periods, with subscriptions for full access starting at $2.99 per month. If, however, you’re in a country or state with age verification restrictions, such as the UK or parts of the US, then no access is offered at all.

“Laws in your area require identity verification for adult content. We believe that’s just wrong, and we won’t be part of it. Access is restricted until that changes,” a statement on the site reads.
