A new adult content creator survey has found that creators view OnlyFans less positively than many other content platforms, and that rival platform LoyalFans is steaming ahead in terms of creator favorability.

US-based market research company SWR Data surveyed over 550 adult content creators in late 2025 for the report, which largely focuses on US-based non-camming creators. The survey showed that 48 percent of all creators polled viewed OnlyFans negatively, and that 45 percent of creators who use OnlyFans for their content viewed the platform negatively.

It may seem surprising that such a large percentage of OnlyFans adult content creators have a negative view of a platform they actively use for their work, but this highlights how OnlyFans is still the biggest and most influential platform of its kind. In 2024 OnlyFans paid out $5.8 billion in total to its 4.6 million creators.

However, while using OnlyFans may be viewed as a necessary hassle for some adult content creators, SWR’s survey suggested that they may be becoming less reliant on the platform for earnings. In the new survey 53 percent of creators polled said OnlyFans was one of their top two revenue-generators, compared to 60 percent for the 2024 survey.

OnlyFans’ crown slipping?

OnlyFans has been testing the patience of its creators in numerous ways recently. In 2025 it introduced compulsory criminal record checks for new US-based creators, making more ID-based registration hoops to jump through.

Also in 2025 a new adult content platform named Hidden, made by a former OnlyFans creator, gained traction after being billed as an “anti-OnlyFans” space.

Distrust among many creators remains after OnlyFans announced it was banning all adult content in 2021, only to quickly reverse the decision after a huge backlash.

LoyalFans on the up

SWR’s survey suggested that LoyalFans, an adult content creator that has largely grown to prominence as an alternative to OnlyFans, is being viewed positively by the creator community. LoyalFans is known for offering good visibility within the platform for new creators, making it attractive for those new to the game.

Of the creators surveyed who used LoyalFans, 76 percent said they had a positive opinion of the platform: a figure far higher than OnlyFans’ 45 percent. Around 40 percent of creators said they used LoyalFans, up from 35 percent in 2024 and just 13 percent in 2022.

SWR said that other adult content sites and platforms that fared well with creator favorability included [all very NSFW] Fansly, SextPanther, Clips4Sale and the porn camming site Chaturbate.

Researchers said that the data should be understood in the context of OnlyFans being a world-famous brand. “Platforms that are more well-known may have significantly higher raw ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ rankings, as fewer people will have no opinion,” they said.

They added: “”For example, OnlyFans is well-known and has very strong opinions. Just 23 percent of creators didn’t view the platform positively or negatively. Compare this to a smaller platform like JustFor.Fans, where 85 percent of creators had no opinion, positive or negative.”

An adult content creator snapshot

The SWR researchers called their data set their ‘Hot List’, as it uncovers opinions about which platforms are rated ‘hot’ or not. You can see further data points on SWR’s Substack.

The researchers said: “The disconnect between creator platforms and, well, creators is a significant drag on the creator economy. Adult brands spend big to convince creators to move platforms, and many creators are eager to find better platforms.”

They added: “But platforms don’t always understand creators’ needs, and between the sponsorships, brand ambassadors and marketing campaigns, it can be hard for creators to get a good sense of which platforms are really providing value.”
